When The Train Finally Comes! #APART
It has been a long time since I have taken the train, do I miss it? Well I do miss taking the Shinkansen ๐ but the local trains not so much. The last time I took a train was in 2019 to go to a Reggae Party in Tokyo which featured DJ Delano from the Renaissance Sound system alongside Mighty Crown. What an even it was.
One thing I love about the trains here in Japan is that they are always on-time! Unlike trains in NYC ๐. I remember traveling to Manhattan from Freeport a few years ago and I had to take the metro ๐, I went to the platform and looked at the train schedule board and was confused as there were no times. I also checked online and found nothing. I then asked a lady in uniform about the times. She basically said โthere are no set times, you just have to wait until the train comesโ, in her heavy NY accent.
I was like WTF!!! Having just came from the most advanced society when it comes to train systems, this was a big shock to me. However I waited and eventually the train showed up. What I did like about the train stations in NYC were the street/train station musicians. Canโt even remember what instrument he was playing but interestingly, he seemed Japanese. This song by Ken Boothe could be the theme song for the NYC metro system. Must be a joy every time the train shows up ๐.

Trains in Japan are always on time unless there is a human accident.
Yup! And if they are late, they compensate. Want to take one of those Luxury train rides one day that goes along the cost.
First time I ever took a subway was in Chicago. I was, I don't know, maybe 18-19. It's the same there as for NYC, you just wait until it shows up. No times, no schedule, you just wait. Luckily it does seem to come every 5 minutes, so it's never much of a wait. But that was normal for me.
So when I moved to Japan and saw timetables at all the train stations, I was a little shocked. I mean it makes perfect sense, and at this point I can't imagine doing without, but at the time coming from the Chicago way, it was shocking!
heh funny how that is.
Hahaha the reverse ๐! Yeah man It makes so much sense to have a train schedule so you can plan and get to where you are going on time. With NYC I'm not sure if they had trains every 5 minutes like they do in Chicago as I was just a visitor but if they don't, I wonder how people get to work on time if they take the train.... oh the on-time issue, isn't that big a deal ๐. Japan has definitely taught me to be before on-time. ๐
Nice music for the photo subject! ๐
It is a classic ๐ Glad I don7t have to sing it daily while waiting on the train.
Great to see you doing the #APART Challenge ๐คฃ Nice to have some company ๐

When living in South Africa, we took taxis a lot (little minibuses), and rarely some trains for obvious reasons, there were one efficient train created not so long ago called Gautrain. Landing in Toulouse, France, it was so much fun to watch the kids and wife entering a packed train at rush hour for the first time ๐, everyone pushing each other, utter chaos!
Cheers, the song is dope!
It's really funny to see people being pushed into packed trains. Had no idea this was a thing in France too ๐
It makes me wonder what is going on now with the pandemic in play. The other thing is in Japan there are so many perverts grabbing girls asses and putting cameras up skirts you gotta be careful where you put your hands. ๐ฎ
The great thing about trains in Japan is, you can get places a lot faster than the car and you can drink as much as you want and not worry about the consequences.
Yup! Especially the drinking part. I miss going to wine festivals in Tochigi and drinking it on the train ๐
