Where Are The Reggae/Dancehall Songs For The Times? ( We Rise)

Through all the pain and suffering , we rise. It is human nature. Events like this make us stronger, more united and with a clearer vision of the future. Together, we rise, this has been a message in Reggae throughout time.

Where are all the Reggae/Dancahall songs for the times? Well they are there if you only look. Of course nothing is wrong with going back in time, but right now in this moment, artistes are creating uplifting music. Many are also doing fundraising/charitable activities to help their nations in creative ways, showing ONE LOVE and remembering the motto, "out of many, one people".

Many may say "just do good, no need to let people know". But I feel it is important to show it so others will see and adopt the same mentality. Especially if you are in the entertainment industry where only the negative gets highlighted; it is imperative for managers and artistes to show the good they are doing. The reason I brought this up, at the start of the video, the producer states that he has "helped over 700 families and counting". Throughout the video, we can see clips of "charity".

"What do you think? Should your good deeds be publicized?

We Rise

This song called We Rise was executive produced by Romeich entertainment, a Jamaican music mogul and business man who manages some of Dancehall's hottest acts including Shenseea, Tee Jay and Ding Dong. On the track, Romeich brings some of his artists and acquaintances together for a "we are the world" kinda of vibe. Well it is nothing like that song but you get what I mean. The artistes on the We Rise compilation include; @konshens, @shenseea @uptopboss_official @tarrusrileyja @dingdongravers @kemarhighcon @kashmusic.

Listen to the track the below

I think the track is well put together and it isn't just built for covid times but is a lasting song to bring hope through anything that may come our way on this earth. Clips from the great Japan earthquake and other disastrous events can be seen throughout the video. This made it obvious that hey, this song is for now, then, and beyond; hardcore Reggae/Dancehall with a positive message. That balance is a potent force that can uplift the vibrations fo many.

Here is the chorus sang by Tee jay, Shenseea and Taurus Riley. It is more of a chorus and a bridge. I really think they did a good job on this project.

Chorus

TEEJAY
SO WHEN YOU FEEL LIKE GIVING UP
WHEN YOU FEEL LIKE THERE IS NO WHERE TO GO
WHEN YOU FEEL LIFE IS OVER
WHEN YOU FEEL LIKE THERE IS NO ONE TO HOLD

SHENSEEA
LIKE THE ASHES WE RISE
LIKE A PHOENIX WE SOAR
THIS IS WHO WE ARE AND WE TAKE IT TO THE WORLD
NOW IS THE TIME
LIKE A STAR WE WILL SHINE
LET’S TAKE A STAND

TARRUS RILEY
AND SPREAD LOVE TO THE WORLD

Good intensions, but no education/truth about what is really going on.
Praying to Jah and spreading Love will not solve all problems.
Mask on, mask off...people totally confused.
I got news, that wearing masks for several hours can cause different
respiratory illness... people need to educate themselves!
But this is the craziest i have seen so far...spraying the kids, too!?

Well who knows what is true or not with the info out there? But one thing is for sure...We Rise. With the mask, people have been wearing them for years to block allergies and avoid the cold but who really knows if it works ? But one thing is for sure, I feel safer Shen the cashier is wearing one. Let me dive the conspiracy theories!!!

Tuff tune and very touching. I actually got a little emotional listening to it. I like TeeJay part of the chorus. I rate Konshens verse i like the topics he touch on, expected a little more from Taurus though. Wish his verse was a little longer.

Yeah man they put some emotions into this one. For real, Tee Jay part bad, I was surprised it was him on the chorus at first. Shenseea part good too, nice imagery. Tarus part was like a summary of the song hahaha good message but want likkle seasoning yes haha
