Rostov the Great: Spaso-Yakovlevsky Dimitriev Monastery

Hello friends.

I'm not a wizard or a magician, I'm just learning to be one.

Recently, I happened to be passing through Rostov the Great in the Yaroslavl region.
Once, at the time of the formation of Russia, it was really a Great city.
This is one of the oldest cities in Russia, the official chronology dates back to 862, i.e. this city is almost 300 years older than Moscow.
In those ancient times, Rostov was the center of princely power.
Yaroslav the Wise ruled in this city at the end of the 10th century. This is a legendary Grand Prince in the history of ancient Russia.
Then Rostov became the capital of the Rostov-Suzdal Principality. This principality is considered the basis of modern Russia.
In a word, Rostov is a major historical place. There are 326 cultural monuments on its territory, one third of which are monuments of federal significance.

The city is located on the shore of Lake Nero. The name of the lake seems to me somehow not quite Russian.
Nero-Nemo (the captain from the story of Jules Verne) - Nemi (a lake near Rome).

The Spaso-Yakovlevsky Dimitriev Monastery is located on the very shore of the lake. This monastery is familiar to many Soviet citizens primarily from the film "Ivan Vasilyevich changes his profession". This is a comedy with a fantasy bias, as a young scientist invented a time machine and got into the time of Ivan the Terrible and there were some collisions in the change of characters. Ivan the Terrible came to our time, and from our time, 2 people got to ancient Moscow. One of the people was very similar to Tsar Ivan and his name was also Ivan.

The territory of the monastery is quiet and peaceful. This is exactly how it should be in such places. Here a person should think about the eternal and beautiful, think about his existence on this sinful Earth.
Perhaps even about their sins and about their future sins.
It is good that there were not very many people. Probably, the heat is to blame for this. People were trying to get closer to the water.
The territory of the monastery is quite well equipped. There are also foreign tourists in these places, and they always make the amenities better for them than for a simple Russian tourist.

There were clouds in the sky over the lake and even a small rain fell over the island. But the sun was shining in the city itself and it was a little stuffy.

I want to say that this monastery is not the only one in Rostov and not the oldest.
But I was only in this one monastery. I was passing through Rostov and my plans did not include exploring the entire city. It takes more than one day to do this, although the city area itself is not so large.

Friends, I recommend visiting the city of Rostov. Both our local and foreign tourists.
You can now find a place to live and eat for every taste in any city.

Hi @alechi,
Great to see you using the #travelfeed tag! We launched the #travelfeed curated tag more than 3 years ago and have been supporting the best travel blogs on Hive ever since. But did you know that TravelFeed has evolved? Based on the feedback of thousands of Hive travel bloggers we created TravelFeed.io.

TravelFeed.io brings together all the benefits of Hive decentralized blogging with features that you as a travel blogger will love: Photo galleries, Instagram embeds, custom maps, post scheduling and more. And if you want, you can even use our easy site builder to set up your own travel blog on your own domain which can be a great way to generate a passive income from your blog!

Unfortunately, focussing on developing the best platform for travelers means that we no longer curate the #travelfeed tag. But, you can log in with your Hive account on TravelFeed.io to publish your next travel post, and it will be posted to Hive automatically! Every day, we select the best posts and reward them with an upvote and added visibility.

We would love to see you on TravelFeed.io soon :)
