TRAVELING IN THE PHILIPPINES: Kookoo's nest on Negros Island, part 2 Diving.

Hi guys, back again and today I bring you part two of our trip to Negros island in the #philippines, if you didn't see part 1 no problem I shall add a link at the bottom of this post it may be worth jumping to that first.

Lets get to it, yesterday we had traveled on motorcycles from Moalboal in Cebu across to Negros, many miles and a ferry crossing later we had arrived at our destination Kookoo's nest on the Antulang Peninsula this is about as far south as you can go on the island.

It was a exhausting days travel but after food shower and a good nights sleep it was time to have our first proper look at where we had found ourselves. Venturing down on to the beach from our bungalow perched on the hillside we soaked in our surroundings, the place was stunning. A long sandy beach, warm crystal clear sea and peace a rare thing on any beach, we really had found what we were looking for, a bit of tranquility.

Our own little piece of paradise.

Jamie and Niki the owners have built a cracking retreat, this place feels a million miles from anything. Consisting of five very individual bungalows to rent, even at capacity this place would feel deserted.

Ok lets get some breakfast, as with the night before the food was excellent, Niki passed by to organize our diving for the morning and this is where we learned why all the grub was so good. It turns out that Niki prior to moving to the Philippines had worked in catering for many years, she had also worked the world festival circuit for decades employed by massive names in the music industry to supply the VIP's food while on tour, ah now we know why it's so good we were getting the VIP treatment.

After breakfast we took some time to chill out and let our food settle before meeting back up with Niki to go for a couple of dives. This was not our main reason to come here but the fact that they have dive facilities is a bonus and any chance to get underwater shouldn't be missed. They have a well equipped in house dive centre and two dive boats, a small speed boat for local dives and a Banca style boat for longer trips to places like Apo island which is about a hour up the coast.

This area is not known as a diving destination so as we entered the water we were unsure what to expect, we were pleasantly surprised twenty meters off shore was a nice section of coral reef which was in great condition with plenty of life, eels, nudibranch, clownfish and seahorses plus much more. Here's a few photo's from the dive.

After our first dive we returned to shore for a surface interval and some refreshments, then loaded our dive gear and fresh tanks onto the boat, this time we would dive further out right off the tip of the peninsula it was another lovely dive with plenty of nice fish to see. This photo is as we approach the dive site I don't know about you but I think it looks a bit like a ship sailing to sea.

Land ahoy!!

Well this brings us to the end of our first full day at Kookoo's nest and what a great start to the week, our plan for the next day is to get out and about on our bikes and visit a lake in the mountains should be fun i'll tell you all about it in the next chapter of this story.

As promised below is a link to part 1 of this trip, I hope you have enjoyed it so far and look forward to sharing more, until then Stay safe out there folks!

The Philippines is definitely one of the closer places to Paradise. Not to mention how simple are used to live people on there and how little most of them have compared to us..and they still smile and enjoy life more than some of us...

Like anywhere there's a lot of good and bad here but on the whole it's a great place to live, the country is beautiful and has some amazing scenery.
