A stop in Sorrento is a must during a trip in Italy.

So we took the ferries from Naples to go spend a day there on a nice summer day.

On the way, the scenery is beautiful and the Vesuvius is there all the way to remind us that we are in the Bay of Naples.

There are two marina in Sorrento which can accommodate big cruise ships.

It is always impressive how big these boat can be in comparison to the whole city.

There are not a lot of cars in Sorrento, but a lot of scooters, yes.

Driving the Amalfi coast on one of this is cool, but to really enjoy the city, you have to leave it out once there.

This is the central place of Sorrento, Piazza Tasso, were we can find a lot of hotels, cafes and restaurants, but above all that, a superb view.

We can see very clearly that the piazza is built above a cliff which cuts the city in two. Impressive !

The climb is a bit breathtaking, but the views and the good ice cream at the top are well worth it.

Not far from the central square, we have Vallone dei Mulini (Valley of the Mills) were we can admire ruins of 13th century mills and sawmill surrounded by nature.

Those building were prosperous at one time but have been abandoned in the 40s.

Sorrento is a very touristic destination from south Italy and we were not alone there.

The city is famous for its production of limoncello, a liqueur obtained by maceration of lemon, alcohol, water and sugar.

You can see some bottles on the right here, along with pasta.

If you never tried it, you are missing something very good.
