North Pagoda Garden, Suzhou, China (8 pics)
The North Temple Pagoda, also known as Beisi Pagoda can be visited in Suzhou, more precisely in the Bao'en temple.
The Beisi Pagoda was established during the Ming dynasty, but the site on which it resides has already housed two other pagodas.
One which dates back to the 3rd century and the other which was built during the Liang dynasty.
So there is about 1700 years of history in this place.
When we arrive, we first take a look at the star of the place, the immense 9 storey pagoda which is 76 meters high.
It's hard to imagine that it was originally even taller; two floors had to be pulled out because they were too disfigured.
If possible, you have to climb to the top to admire the view.
From above we can see both the new town with its skyscrapers and the historic town with its typical white Chinese houses.
A large happy Buddha is at the foot of the pagoda, this is only the beginning of our finds on this site.
This temple gives us the false impression that it is only composed of a pagoda, but in fact this temple is made up of various temples and vast gardens.
In all the temples, you will find representations of Buddha, each more beautiful than the next.
From small to large, with impressive details and beautifully decorated with flowers that add to the ambience of the place
A place of contemplation for some and great discoveries for others.
And if you are there at the right time, you will also have the chance to see the monks do a small ritual in the garden.
