A trip down memory lane

avatar

Hello Hive family.
This morning I woke up remembering this trip I took down to the beautiful North west with my friend in February.
The memories created there are a constant reminder that we must always live in the moment. Take calculated risks and do everything we want while we still can because we have no idea what tomorrow holds.

The trip was initially meant to happen in March as a birthday vacation for the girls but we forced it for February. Its as if we knew that we will be subjected to lockdown as our country hit its first case of Coronavirus in March.

Overall It was a beautiful road trip. We started in hartbeespoort: a beautiful place to visit and stay. We went on a 2 hour boat cruise. There's 200 ha of water and numerous residences along the shoreline and beautiful mountains sarounding the area. Currently about 20% of the dam is covered with Hyacinths which absorb excess nutrient and keep the water clean.

We went on to see the famous hartbeespoort dam. Beautiful waterfall. There's a tunnel that all cars and people who are walking pass through to get better views. What a beautiful expirience it was.

On the second day we drove down to Sun city, it was my first time going. The excitement, goosebumps having imagined that its a beautiful free standing little heaven and it was everything I had imagined and more, I was blown away. There is no see in Gauteng but the scrlenery and set up there is such that it looks like a mini beach. People are united and there's an automated wave that everyone gathers and hold hands in anticipation

The only down was the guest house, it was extremely beautiful but there was an issue of load shedding and they have no back up generators to keep the place running if the power goes off but overall the guest house was beautifully furnished, clean and comfortable sheets, safe and close to all amenities

As soon as lockdown is over. I am definately going there again

North West is a beautiful province, very mountainous. I have drove pass hartbeespoort dam a few times but never been there to enjoy myself and I envy you on that.
Beautiful photos, whoever your photographer was is good lol.

Interesting post.

I stopped at 2hour boat cruise, you mean you were on the sea for 2hours, not me mehn.....I hate being around water without boundary and I'm sure that one must have been really large, except you guys stay in one position at some point and are playing and doing whatever. But a moving boat for 2hours....not meeeeeeee

Its a dam not the sea. There's no sea in that province so all the cruises are on a dam anf they serve meals and beverages. Its really fun and safe 😅

Funny enough I don't know how to swim but I want to go shark diving, the one I will be locked in the cage submerged in water. It is part of my bucket list, I looked for such place some time ago when I was in Port Elizabeth but couldn't find.
On a good day if I find myself in Durban I will seize the opportunity I herd one can do it there.

Oh stop - you are making my wanderlust itch!!! 😆 I've never been to SA but definitely on my list!! Lovely shots of you looking triumphant there on top of the dam!

You should have a look at @pinmapple and the HaveYouBeenThere community. If you post something like this from their community and PIN it on their map, there's a lot more exposure and upvotes to be had. Perfect for people who love to travel.

@thembelihle and @joetunex - you can subscribe to the community, and then POST from there. When you write a new post in PeakD, the very first option is to change from My blog to a Community - just click on the drop down option. You DO need to be subscribed to a community (and observe their rules) if you post from there.

Pinning on @pinmapple is easy. @brittandjosie has written a great post that has all the How To steps: https://peakd.com/hive-114105/@brittandjosie/hive-and-pinmapple-use-for-your-blogs-and-all-my-pins She's a GREAT energy in Hive - suggest you follow her and learn from her.

I haven't been to sun city since I was a kid, i wanted to go a year ago and then I saw it was cheaper to go to Thailand so I did what every South African would do and went to Thailand instead lol

Are you serious it is cheaper to go to Thailand? I guess it makes sense sine you in Cape Town. It shouldn't be that expensive from me in Joburg.

Yes, the deals in Thailand are redonk man, and you can have a ball of a time there. I could easily spend 3 months there and hardly ding the budget. yeah for sure driving in from Jozi is far better

Beautiful countryside. I love mountains and water. Nice vacation you took. And such amazing photographs

The next time you take travel photographs, why not use the tag #travelfeed #travel #innerblocks add the country and/or town you are visiting.

Thanks for sharing
