My Top 3 Favourite TV Box Sets: This Quarantine has made me remember some!

avatar
(Edited)

Watching TV shows is definitely not my thing, It's not something that I'm used to, while I was in college I lived in a dormitory and had no television, so I got used to not seeing it, it was 6 years of college, then the time I was at home without a job I took the opportunity to see some programs and series, I hate novels, so in my list of favorites you will never find that kind of programming hahaha, I think they sell women a story very different from the real thing, and some fall into stereotyping couples, which is something that is very distant from reality.

Then another 6 or 7 years away from the television because of my work rhythm, actually in those years I had cable TV but I arrived home so tired or wherever I was at that time staying that what I did was to sleep, I even remember that there were days when I fell like a stone on my bed even with my work clothes and when I woke up it was to take a bath and continue sleeping, wow now that I see it, I had no social life in those years hahaha, so my choices for this month's @yourtop3 contest are few, but certainly, for me they are among the best. So, This is my entry into this month's Top 3 contest.

This months topic is Favourite TV Box Sets

My Nominations are:

Nomination Number One

LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT

Source

My Reasons for the Nomination

I love the way these detectives fight against abuse and rape against women, the dedication with which they work to find the killer or the aggressor was really something that caught me, and what I liked most was that the chapters usually didn't intertwine with each other, they didn't have a continuity or a plot like other series, which allowed me to lose chapters without losing the sequence of the series, it was really one of the things that I watched it for, because I really hate losing the sequence of some program and feeling like Hey where did this come from?

Nomination Number Two

THE WITCHER

My Reasons for the Nomination

I just finished the first season and I'm anxious to get the second season, which will be ready for 2021 (so if we get out of this one, I'm sure I'll watch it), as I said before I'm not a big fan of television, the series was not really my thing until Netflix appeared, I always forgot to watch the new chapter, because if I didn't forget the day I forgot the time, so I usually lost the thread of history and left the series, sorry, I'm terrible at remembering unimportant things. This series is undoubtedly one of those I love, sorcerers, wizards and medieval times, fights between kingdoms and a handsome protagonist, what can go wrong? If you haven't seen it, what are you waiting for? She'll get you from the first chapter.

Nomination Number Three

DR HOUSE

My Reasons for the Nomination

I enjoyed this series, it's one of the few series that I was punctual with, I always remembered the time and I even had it programmed in my phone reminders, when I didn't have the opportunity to watch it for some reason I programmed it to be recorded in my cable TV decoder. The black humor of this doctor, the intelligence that characterized him, the sharpness that he had to find the solution to the problems, and the crazy diseases with which the patients came to the hospital, was really what I loved, this guy was crazy but he was cool.

One of the things that this quarantine has given me back is the opportunity to see some series and movies, which undoubtedly was something I had already forgotten, the television in recent years at home has been kidnapped by a small alien that I have at home and is only dedicated to watching the paw patrol hahaha.

Hey @fmbs25

Nice post. I new nothing about the Witcher before I decided to give it a try. I really enjoyed it and found myself looking at the episode list worrying about how much was remaining. Henry Cavil is decent.

House could have made my top 3. Such a good show and Hugh Laurie as Greg House, kicks ass. The other cast members are cool too.

Good luck with the contest.

Cavil for me is more than decent hahaha is one of the best performances I've seen, besides that white hair and the touch of the eyes makes him see OMG hahaha. I also think Dr. House could have been my best friend, his humor is so similar to mine!
Thanks for your good wishes! Greetings and a big hug!

2 lots of 6 years without watching TV? Sounds like we share the same thing there! I didn't watch TV at all during my PhD and haven't really been watching it the last few years myself! At least with this contest, we can perhaps pick and choose what we can watch depending on the popular choices for when we have time haha!

I haven't heard of the Witcher and Law & Order actually but those do sound like really great series full of different and exciting stories. I've heard of House due to the Hugh Laurie British connection but never seen it. I know my Mum was really into it though and was glued to the TV so could see the effect of it haha!

Thanks for entering the contest and good luck this month!

House is really good, I think Hugh did an excellent job, and yes, when we are so dedicated to work or study sometimes we don't even miss or need to watch TV, in fact I still don't turn on the TV more than to put some program to my son, if it wasn't for netflix I think I wouldn't watch anything hahaha.
Thanks a lot, and I hope I don't lose another month!

Great choices! Glad to see you made it this month. I think Law & Order SVU is a great series. I haven't watched it all the way through, but will catch the odd episode here and there. I almost thought about going into forensic pathology way back before I started college, so crime always seems to appeal to me. How they find the clues and solve the cases to find the perpetrators. I've heard good things about the Witcher, so there's another one to add to the list. I really liked House, as well. He was a great character!
