Let's Talk "Ice Cream" For A Minute... What Are Your Top 3?

(Edited)

There's Always Time For An Ice Cream!

This month's @yourtop3 topic from our contest mascot, Q, is all about ice creams! To be fair, I think we deserve some after the year we've all been through so let's comfort ourselves! We can at least have a bit of fun and Q is all to happy to scoop up some positivity and sprinkle it around before he goes off gallivanting around the world and closes the contest on 31st December.

So how does the contest work?

How To Enter

All you need to do is write a >250 word post by the 9th November 2020 with #yourtop3 as one of the first 5 tags - full information on how to enter is in Q's introduction post here.

There is an entry fee (the non-HP half of your post payout) which gets contributed to the various prize pools but Q will be along to guide you the rest of the way!

Last Contest Is Next Month

I want to say a big thanks to everyone who's embraced the spirit of the contest and got involved with it. We (@plantstoplanks, @cheese4ead, @foxyspirit, myself and Q) wanted to show what was possible and that you CAN have fun and socialise organically on this platform without enforced community rules and genuinely get to know other people!

Since we started this open-to-all community contest in March 2019, we've given out nearly $300 HBD to various prize winners who got involved and many folks received decent curation from voluntary sponsors and whales across that time! We're pretty happy with that!

However, when Q said he'd be setting sail at the end of December for the trip of a life time, we were sad that the Your Top 3 contest will be coming to an end next month but, well, we were all under the spell of that enthralling mascot and he's made his decision!

My Top 3 Ice Creams

I don't know about you but ice creams take me to a happy place whether I associate them with going on holiday or just providing a laden of cold sugary comfort in a tough moment in life. Needless to say, it was pretty difficult to narrow it down to a top 3 but there's no denying I'm a massive chocolate fan so that has heavily influenced my choices below!

My nominations aren't included in the contest dpoll later in the month but I'll be contributing the liquid half of the post payout to the prize pool

Ben & Jerry's Cookie Dough

Holy shiiiiii! I remember my first dose of this sugary hit at Uni when one of my housemates just wouldn't stop going on about Ben & Jerry's so I was like, "OK then, let's do this". One spoonful was all it needed and damn, she didn't see that tub for the rest of the evening haha! I can't remember the film we watched in the flat (probably Shaun of the Dead @chekohler haha) but I can remember that first kiss... with the ice cream!

That perfect combination of a soft matrix with the cookie crunch was something I hadn't experienced in such a tub before but I bought about 4 the next day on special offer - cheers mate! 🍨

Chocolate Chip Ice Cream (in a cone)

When I was down in Cornwall in September, you simply have to get yourself an ice cream and walk along one of their many beaches. Kelly's is one famous Cornish brand but there are plenty farms that supply local ice cream parlours with the goods to offer up to to tourists. As I have an affinity for chocolate, getting a double dose of it in the form of chocolate chip is double heaven. Add to that, the presentation of it in a waffle cone and we're basically triple wrapping that goodness in for a couple of quid.

So many good memories of walking along the beach with an ice cream in Cornwall growing up. I'm sure one day I will end up there more permanently but not for a few years yet!

Magnum Classic

Hell yeah, the Magnum Classic is another one that I'd get on special occasions i.e. every day because every day is a special occasion right?! The hard chocolate case enveloping a soft vanilla center leaving me with brain freeze because I'd just attack it too quickly. Another one that you can walk along with but probably in a bit more comfort than my 2nd choice - you didn't have fear of any soft scoop dripping over your hand when it melted!

I'd say this was more of a universal ice cream favourite as I'd get them wherever I was whereas the option above is there strictly for Cornwall!

Now It's Your Turn

As I mentioned above, this is the penultimate contest in Your Top 3 so you may as well enter and have a pop at the monthly and quarterly prizes which are up for grabs and earn some HP for posting while you're at it!

So what are your top 3 ice creams? Are you a Ben & Jerry's fan? Something else catches your sweet tooth?

Looking forward to reading your post - full details on how to enter here!

Nicky

P.S. I kinda really want some ice cream now 🤣

My Ben & Jerry's jam was totally Chocolate Fudge Brownie, though Cookie Dough gets a serious nod. Still pondering my choices, but you've started off with some delicious choices for the round. There definitely is just something about walking around with a scoop of the good stuff to feel totally decadent on vacation. Though having a little something in the freezer for day to day isn't a bad idea either. ;)

Ah yeah I did have a few tubs of the fudge brownie (of course, which normal person doesn't?) but Cookie Dough won it for me. I think it was the additional crunch from the cookies in there. The fish one was also a contender but I had to spruce up my choices otherwise it would just be an advert for Ben & Jerry's! 😂

I have to agree with keeping the fridge well stocked with ice cream is of paramount importance!

You might well be the only one there Mr Days!

Is there an echo in here? I'm not likely to be going anywhere as we are now in lockdown for the foreseeable future, at least until the first week of December.

Will we see Mr Days share his ice cream (and dnb) selection?

Dude Pura was serious-serious when she said she wants to move back to England. She broke me off night before last, even had some properties picked out in the south. Like south-south as in south of London south cuz she knows it's way too cold for me in the north.

Got some thinkin to do. Obviously not til this is over whatever this-this is.
