Beer Review

Blackout Jinx is a 9.9% American Stout made by Marlowe Artisanal Ales in North Haven, Connecticut. Marlowe Artisanal Ales is a new, small batch, craft brewer focusing on low ABV(alcohol content) and balanced beers. Blackout Jinx is not exactly low ABV... but it sure had a delicious balance of flavor and bite! It's an American stout brewed by Zac Ross with honey and maple syrup.

The Can

Blackout Jinx is served in a 16 ounce pint can. It had some cool can art as you can see in the photo above and below. The label was dark, just like the beer. It featured a crescent moon with a face on it above a field of roses. The artwork was created by Kat Manning. On the side of the can, a paragraph gave an introduction to Marlowe Artisanal Ales:

"Named after my late grandfather, these beers attempt to honor his memory. We believe in balance in all things and present these beers as such. We hope you enjoy them as an accent to your experiences with your friends and family."

The Beer

As you can imagine by the name, Blackout Jinx was as dark as night when poured into a glass. A super small head of foam disappeared quickly. At 9.9% alcohol content, it was a nice and strong American stout, perfect to keep you warm on a cold winter day. The honey and maple syrup added a delicious layer of sweetness to the brew. I look forward to trying more beer from Marlowe Artisanal Ales in the future!

I was thinking of something sarcastic to say but then that quote showed up. Geez. Jk😄

The whole time all i could think of was the bad Guinness experiences at a local pub in my 20s... So heavy and thick. I wonder if the honey and maple syrup helps or makes it more thick and syrupy...

That looks like a thick and solid ale. Love the gothic artwork and authentic messaging....plus that strong beer!
