This was such a fantastic post! I love reading tales reminiscent of 60s 70s culture. So much has changed in such a short time since those eras. I was a child through the 70s and have a vague memory of that era. I remember lots of hippies 🤣 My grandparents ran concession stands in one of the downtown office buildings, and I'd sit on top of the soda coolers helping my grandmother sell sandwiches. 🤣 It was such a great era to grow up in. Brought back memories of my grandparents and how they did everything for themselves. Such a great generation, most of us have forgotten the basics of canning, and brewmaking, and doing things on our own and for ourselves! We rely entirely to heavily on the grocery store for everything now. My other grandfather had a farm and I have very vague memories of hanging out there other than his pickle barrel of fermenting pickles and how excited I'd get about it. I also remember his flat top buzzcut hair and Buddy Holly glasses. 🤣 My grandmother on that side of the family passed before I was born. Absolutely loved this story.
Thank you, I am glad. Seems we grew up in the same era. Might explain some of our shared taste in music.😉
Have you noticed how people are beginning to do things for themselves again? The resurgence and new emphasis on fermentation and homegrown? Funny, I have always hankered after having my own produce. Where we we live and partly because of how I grew up, we eat from the garden. A lot. And I pickle and bottle! 🤭
Huge resurgence in fermentation and homegrown. People are thinking a lot more about homegrown and gardening now too with Corona and supply issues at the stores. Hoping we don't see round 2 of that soon.
Corona has had an enormous impact on how people think about things. Some of that's not a bad thing IMO.
I fear you are right about round 2. We're seeing an upsurgence in numbers with the hospitals in at least one of our big cities taking serious strain.
This is going to be a year's very difficult summer holiday and festive season for some.
