Sheetrock In Studio - Sunday

avatar

The back wall is now covered and insulated in the studio. It took me a little bit to make enough room to be able to lay the sheets of sheet rock down so I could cut them to length. It helps that I was able to make the space right in front of he stack of sheet rock so there was no moving, just lay them down and cut.

All the materials got piled in the bulk of the studio which gave me little room to move around, but I didn't need a ton of room.

The 2 end pieces had to be cut to length and to width as I needed the seams to meet on the studs. Thankfully the sheet rock is thin so cutting and lifting them is not hard.

This is the last piece for the wall, the piece closest to the entrance door. I took 3 1/2 inches off the side which accounts for the 2x4 stud.

Cut from the face then flip it up and slice it in the crease from the back. The thin sheet rock is so much nicer than the thicker heavy stuff. It is just a studio and not a constant lived in dwelling so I am not worried about the thinner sheet rock. It is primarily there to contain the insulation anyway.

It took me all of about an hour to get the 5 sheets cut and installed. I'm really happy with how it is coming out and now I have to get started on the insulation in the ceiling. With the scaffold it will make the task a hell of a lot easier than having to work from the ladders.

I get to pile everything against the now finished back wall to make room in the rest of the studio for me to roll the scaffold around. I need to drive the truck up and haul a bunch of the excess wood out and down to the lean to wood storage area.

R has preschool today, it snowed an inch over night, I need to move the wood from the studio and prepare for the ceiling insulation. and keep cleaning the house in preparation for Thanksgiving.

I've not been able to read posts in a while and was fascinated to see so much work done on the studio. Cool!

It looks as though you're making some good progress. The next step with the sheetrock I would guess would be to spackle. I don't know about you, but I hate to spackle. I can do it, but it takes a lot of time, running my knife over the seems several times. Guys that spackle for a living is neat to watch, they are like an artist with the spackle knife. One or two passes over the spackled seem, and it's on to the next one.
Have a wonderful thanksgiving.
