This little fella is settling in nicely while Mojo is still lost..

Every day is a "miss our Mojo" day

So the shit news is that I had the cat trap in the home for a week now and Mojo is completely lost. Never saw her again and we can only hope that someone captured her or she managed to walk inside at another home who are now taking care of her. That's the best case scenario and if that's the case, I hope she has a lovely life because she deserves that. I miss "mi amiga" so much, we had this routine and we bonded very quickly. I thought we had something here, guess I was wrong as she doesn't seem to miss me.. We have been checking the area every day still, as well as check on FB groups if she was found somewhere as the little on escaped days before her surgery and chipping moment. At this point, I will have to return the trap soon and hope that when we find her, we can lure her in the carrier.

The new member of the household

Is probably her sibling or at least they knew each other and it was the only kitten (smaller one at the time) that we kept our eye on to rescue as well. Months passed before my boyfriend pulled the trigger because we wanted Mojo to be helped first initially, so he was actually going to be rescued by us the last week if all went according to plan. When Mojo left and thought she was at her old spot, he went there with the carrier and this little fella walked in super easily. When he discovered it was not Mojo but a look-a-like that he saw, he sent me a text saying shall I take him home? And that was that. Just as easy as we captured Mojo a few months ago, this one walked right in as well. Probably as he knew in the carrier none of the big cats will scare him away as they are eating, we saw that with Mojo too, she was the more petite one and last to eat. This time this was the last kitten of the nest and also probably the last to eat constantly.

Names

So I can't lie and deny that we have been accidentally calling him Mojo super often the first days which was highly annoying because there's only one Mojo and I will not just pass on her name to another cat. She's unique and I will be hoping for her return probably for a long time to come. I made a joke when this fella came home, saying he should be called Blue, simply because of his eyes. I didn't dig it though, so I said maybe Balou, lol. But he's not a Balou either. We also thought about Mogli, but my boyfriend couldn't get used to it so now we named him Mochi. I think it also sounds cool having a Mojo & Mochi. We're not 100% sure about the spelling yet and I guess we have time until we go to the vet with him to figure that out.

Totally different personality

Where Mojo was (until the day she left) afraid when someone walked in and still hid under the closet, this one just keeps doing what he's doing, looks up at the most and continues sleeping. He's a real dude, very laid back and I don't think there's any nasty character traits in this one, when we try to pet him (he's still unsure what we want exactly when we try to) he just looks at you and stands up or moves a bit. I did manage to pet him on his head, back and tail more often the past days so I think he will soon understand we want to make him feel chill and not stress him out. He just never experience any kind of petting yet so we have to be patient again. He didn't meow for many nights he discovered that laying on the dining chair is better than under the closet within days after arrival. After a week, he was chilling on the couch as you can see above. Yesterday he also adopted the lowest floor of the small scratching post. I think he's doing very well for the short period of time he's been in our home.

They'd be a complementary couple!

Not to make babies, but to balance each other out. Mojo is scared of the door, dogs and hides when she is freaked out where Mochi is very laid back and minding his business, chilling, eating and exploring like he owns the place. He can learn from her that we are super duper good at petting and that he will understand petting is nice once he experiences that, while he can teach her to hide her poop better!

That's another fun story about Mochi, he had to learn to use the litterbox, and we took of the door for that. He knew after one time (as did Mojo!) that he needed to use the litterbox for that. It was super funny to see him go in, dig it in thoroughly and then checking it from the outside to find out it was not done well enough and dig a little more. He seems to be a perfectionist where Mojo actually SUCKS at this. When she goes, the house smells badly we clean it up immediately but still, she never manages to dig it in, lol. He can teach her how to properly hide her poop!

Hopefully, the next update post will be one with news about Mojo and we can enjoy Caturday twice as much!

That’s not good you lost a cat. We’ve had that happen and it’s not fun. This new one looks like it’s adapting nicely! I think I’ve watched that playing with them with a long toy with a string and feather on the end will help them engage and allow you to pet them.

Oh sorry that you also experienced this once, I had one escape once in the past, but she came back after two weeks or so.

Funny that you mention the stick with feather, lol. When we tried to teach Mojo that petting is nice, it was exactly a toy like that that made her all zen and even sort of making love to the feather at some point :) The first week after we were allowed to do this, we had to pet her with the stick with feather and after a week or so, I managed to do it with my hands.. I may have overtried petting a bit too much yesterday with Mochi because now he's turning away when I sit next to him, so I'll let him be for a day or so :)

I just love to pet them and he's sooo soft!

If Mojo returns, she can show him the way!

I get your feeling. We experienced a cat story like yours in Mexico. A catsoul who trusted us so much that she brought her three babies to our home. She was like Mojo. In the end, after a failed transportation to the vet via cat box, we lost the trust and never saw her again. We took care of her already well grown kittens, which all of them have a wonderful life now. I still miss them all 🥲
I like the name Blue. It reminds me of our catsoul, Naranja. Fitting names for appearance or characters have so much charm to me.
I understand your story, a little. It makes my heart cry to read. I'm grieved.
Hopefully, Mojo will return. Or, like you said, she is well.
Maybe, how about Mojo's reincarnation into Mochi?

I'm still so sad, yesterday I even cried a bit because I'm honestly worried she's hurt or dead now. We can't find her, and the past days, we have all been inside because we're coughing our lungs out so we haven't searched for her anymore. The new one is still scared and will take some more time to get used to us I guess. Even if this wasn't the case, he's not Mojo :( I'd be sooo happy if she suddenly returns and acts as if nothing happened..

I‘m so sad to read your words.. I feel you with all my heart.
I send you lots of energy. The best one can do is to believe she is fine wherever she is. To applause the time you’ve been together and keep a glimpse of hope.
Big hug to all the family.

Yeah, I hope that someone took her in and giving her lots of love. It would be good to know that though. I got so attached to her quickly, she was truly my furry friend and we had special moments every day, it breaks my heart writing it down now even, I miss her. Maybe she'll be back, let's hope so. Thank you for the kind words and energy <3
