What is Illuminating the divine?

It’s mean the way to influence human thoughts by the divine assistant. It is one of the oldest and most influential theories of mind. I think that’s why the curator of this exhibition Stephen Truax Eckerd choose this name. I am working with him since 2010 as his teaching assistant and he is also my inspiration. I also worked with him another exhibition named “Earthquake Nepal 2015” Which is sponsored by the Archaeology department of Jahangirnagar University in Bangladesh.

Thanka Paintings

Though you are most welcome to view this film at one sitting, "illuminating the Divine" is a series of short films designed to introduce both the history and the technique of creating Buddhist paintings in Nepal for students in all grade levels from elementary school through graduate study. The intent is to stimulate interest in the subject and provide teachers at all levels of study and college professors an opportunity to expand on the subject as it relates to the course being taught and the learning level of the students. Topics include sacred geometry, iconography, continuity, and change in style and technique from the 11th century to the 21st century. the revival of the style of Newari painting that defined Nepali art for over paintings. and bringing Western perspectives and techniques to the traditional creation of traditional paintings for meditation and worship.

The contemporary art scene in Nepal is perhaps the most dynamic in the history of Nepal and is now receiving international attention. It is the pleasure of the Nepali artists and the filmmakers to share with you this exhibition of original works of art and films that document the culture that
inspires their creation of 700 years, the recent acceptance of women into traditional thangka school and their potential impact on the development of new styles in Nepal, and the way many contemporary artists trained in college fine arts degree programs are incorporating traditional symbols into contemporary.
