An Irreplaceable Gem

Yesterday, I called to check up on him and to ask what his wishes were for his birthday... Not that I had anything grand planned out for him, I was just being optimistic that he would have a memorable birthday.

We had a very fun chat over the phone, I felt his excitement about his upcoming birthday. I asked what his new age would be on his birthday and he was like 56 or 57... We laughed so hard about the fact that he wasn't sure of his birth date, haven't you been counting? I asked with a silly voice.

The call ended with my heart feeling so happy and ready to do other activities with a smile on my face like it was my birthday the next day. Today came really quickly, I woke up and was like 6am already? I think I had a short night rest or did I over sleep? 🤣 Not sure...

His day is finally here... I thought, should I call him first or wish him on my WhatsApp status?... I can't believe I chose to post on my status first. Well, here's what got me more for his birthday.

I felt a rush of emotions in my heart when I wanted to write captions to wish him a happy birthday.

This man has done more than what any other man in his shoes would do, he has been of great support to my siblings and I both as a father and as a mother, he has been and is still the most dearest to my siblings and I because he has proven to take that position in our hearts.

Dad in the 1960s

I'll use one of his 1960s picture to tell a short sad but memorable story about this wonderful man whom I call my Father... My sweet dad.

We were a family of five living and surviving as much as we could until mum left us for reasons I can't tell now. Then this man left the three took up all the responsibilities upon himself and I tell you, he couldn't have done it any better. He played the father and mother role so well like he was born to live that way.

He hardly discipline his kids with rods and spanks but his words are way more than any rod, his love for his kids are so strong and assuring that his kids grew up without feeling any sense of being unloved. He became his kids play mate, servant, cook, laundry man and driver.

My dad was everything his children wanted and he still is because he seem to get better at it as he ages so I'm more than grateful and feeling so blessed to have been given such a man as my father.

A Little About My Father As A Person

He's a very jovial person, no one meets my dad and not say one or two good thing about their first encounter. He is a funny one anyone would love to be in his company.

He's a giver, I mean a big heart man. He could go hungry just to give someone what the person needs so long it's very important. So I could say, my dad is selfless.

He's very hardworking, I'm sure you would agree with me thinking about how he was able to care for his three kids till they became adults all on his own with his wife.

Finally, I'll say he is a great dad. If there is another life, I don't mind having him as my father again.

Today is his birthday and I'm still feeling speechless on what to say about my irreplaceable sweetheart. I'll just make a wish for him here and send the link to him so he could read it as well.
