Twenty friends can never walk and be friends for twenty years. A Yoruba wise saying.

Yes, the above saying is one of the popular Yoruba adage. This contest has brought a flash back to my childhood experience growing up as a child with other neighbors.

It was a beautiful experience, the fun, life and the evening moonlight tales from on TV screen or from elders in the compound. I live in a two rooms apartment as a child with my parent in one of the story building having different rooms which are occupied by various family too but we all live as one. It's a compound with different people from different tribes, religion believe and from different works of life. Below are some of the childhood experiences.

1 FISHING

Not really in a stream or river but there was a little very dark stagnant water a stone throw to were we live. I remember a friend of mine who was from the riverside area always go to catch fish. I always stay clear due to the fact of the phobia I have for water. Parents always warm their children from going to that place because of the danger attached to it but this particular friend of mine has every tactics which he always employed in catching fish which he always sell to generate income.

2 MOONLIGHT TALES

I love this particular one, not common but every Wednesday we the children always gather together to watch a program on NTA channel 12 a program called "MOONLIGHT TALES" exactly at 8pm. It's always a story teaching moral lessons which educate children. The characters are always either in form of lion, tortoise, goat etc to pass out a meaningful message. I could still remember some lessons which taught about greed, foolishness, selfishness and the likes.

3 BOJU BOJU O (HIDE AND SEEK GAME)

That's the name we call it in my native language. There the predator who is hidden in a place as he/she recite a particular song. At the end of the song, everyone is expected to have hide themselves in a place where no one could find them. Lol I remember some ridiculous places I enclosed myself to prevent them from seeing me whereas i would be able to see through a tiny hole. Anyone who is been caught would be the next person to hunt others too.

All the above event are few out of many neighborhood experience i have when growing up as a child having over 30+ people leaving in the compound.chalkboard620316__480.webpsource
