Emeka and Chidinma's marriage was a beautiful one but after seven years of marriage and still no child, people in the village were beginning to talk. Even during the women's meeting, she could feel the women staring at her but she cared less, she was happy with her marriage and that was all that matters.

But in as much as she could ignore the women at the meetings, she couldn't ignore her husband's parents who were constantly on her neck, asking her when she would bore a child for their only son as if she was the one who gave children. According to the parents, they needed a male grandchild to carry on his father's name.

Emeka had confronted his parents countless times, telling them he would have kids at God's own appointed time but it seemed to the parents, that God's time was taking too much time. So they did the only thing they knew they could do, they brought another wife for their son.

But Emeka was furious when he heard about the news, so he immediately left his place of work and hurried home. When he got home, his wife was almost in tears and that broke him. "If only they knew the sacrifice she was making by being with him, they would worship her". He thought to him as he gently asked his parents to come into his room, he had something to tell them, something he should have told them a long time ago.

“Chidinma is not barren, I'm impotent”. Emeka dropped the bomb even before his parent could sit properly on his bed. “I found out about it eight years ago after I had that accident at the city. The doctor told me about it and I made him promise never to tell anyone. I later told Chidinma three months after we met, before I asked her to marry me”. Emeka said and watched as the expression on both his parents face turned from anger to shock, then to pity.

“She knew and she still agreed to marry you?” Emeka's mom asked as tears filled her eyes. The realization of everything was starting to get to her. She had treated the poor girl badly all this while not knowing her son was the cause of their childlessness.

By the time Emeka's parents came out of his room, the tears on Chidinma's eyes were already flowing freely. Emeka's mom calmly apologized to her, before leaving with the other lady who was confused about what was going on.

As Emeka's parent left his home that evening, one thing was certain, that was the last time his parents would be attacking his wife.
