Should I take HIVE as a full time career? A thousand, if not million dollar question right now!

Choosing a career online, is probably not a desirable profession for many individuals in several countries. Still now, this path have not received the recognition that it was suppose to get. But time is changing, thoughts and ideas are changing. In addition to that, COVID pandemic made a number of people realize the how this sector can make a difference.

On march 2020, the blockchain saw a new chain grow out of ashes, as if the Phoenix rising from the ashes. Hive started its journey and as of today it has been growing each and everyday. New users are joining, contents are being made, connections are being implemented. Thus the growth is happening (Maybe not desirably but it is going on slowly). We are only less than a year old but yet we have come this far with such dedicated community and everyday we are making a progress. As a content creator on HIVE, it has been nothing but more than a learning experience for me. Over the time coming from STEEM to HIVE it has been a roller coaster ride for me. All the ups and down, the depression, the excitement, the love from the users and also to mention, the financial support that was provided by Steem and now HIVE has been purely magnificent. After facing some queries from different users, especially about taking HIVE seriously or even one step further, take it a career is a tough position to be at. Think practically rather than emotionally! Some frequently asked questions and some queries answers are shared below from my POV!

Learning Process

For a new user, HIVE can be an ocean of opportunities. Several ways to make thyself educated and taking one step at a time this could become a significant part of their life. Like it have happened for many users. Proper knowledge can guide a user to his/her glory. I can not think of any other platform which can together guide a user to learn/emphasize/grow/earn at the same time. Even if there is, the procedure is quite difficult and herd to be a part of it. In that regard HIVE has a simple process and also even if you start as a newbie, you will find people to guide you , if you are worth the time spending upon. This place is not a money making machine, you need to earn your position.

Are you dedicated?

You will find plenty of users on this chain, who are very good at, what they do. Their dedication and skill levels are to the peak. Their works speak for themselves. Now just because you are watching some people are making money via their contents you are forcing yourself to be at this platform. That is a childish act in my POV. You are seeing what you want to but what you are not seeing is the dedication those users have put into their contents and how much they have gone through to reach where they are at. This is not really QUICK RICH SCHEME.

How much are you expecting?

We have our needs. Even after being here on HIVE for such a long time the assurance of getting a fixed amount of financial support can not be guaranteed. In my POV that is good as because people might take this for granted. Your work should speak for you. Even after that there are certain barriers which you need to pass in order to get some decent amount of financial support in here. For that TIME, EFFORT is needed much more than you can think of.

Living in a third world country, it might help you get a decent amount of support from here in your daily life. In fact some users are indeed living by the earning of HIVE and different DApps of this chain. So this not impossible as some users are already giving you the example of it. Count me in, on that list of example.

As a new user, you are probably not going to get much, which would actually support you in your real life. In that regard, as a user of this chain I would suggest you, to spend enough time for few weeks, if not months to get to know what/how this chain works. Leaving your day job (which is helping you survive) is not a good idea. The same goes for investment as well. Do not blindly invest into any of the token/crypto in HIVE chain. As they might become the demise of yourself if you get caught up in the wrong time. Time is of essence. Make sure to use it in your favor not against.

Are you adding Value?

This is probably the difficult question to answer. But you can deduce the answer easily if you want to. Since this is a social platform you are independent to do whatever you want but at the end of the day there are plenty of users like you lurking here and there on this chain. What extra can you offer with your skill which will make your time worthwhile for yourself and for others as well. Ask yourself the question, the answer should come out easily.

Among countless other questions these are the questions which you should ask yourself if you are really willing to take HIVE as a full time career. Nevertheless, HIVE has immense opportunity for everybody, especially for those who is willing to give something in here (Skill/time/effort). Keep on going and the community does takes of those who are worthy to be taken care of. But in average, we are still not there where we can say for certain, that HIVE can be taken as a profession, just like YOUTUBE or any other social media platform, YET. But in near future we might have this argument and my answer can change. Looking forward to that period of time!

In addition to that, over the past couple of months I have received number of calls from friends and some relatives of about, what they should do under the lock down situation. Some of their situations were tough to describe and few were giving thoughts about shifting their career path in another way.Online activities which provides a decent amount for survival can be a spectacular way to make earnings for many people out their. Needless to say, the pandemic did teach us the value of relation, job, humanity at the same time! Now you know, who to trust and who to not!

My time on this pandemic situation going well through hive. Its actually a different journey when i started. Gradually i started to learnt from seeing others.

Here everyone is giving their creativity or whatever they are skilled on. So its a great place to see the qualities of others which is also encouraging me to do something. In return we are getting rewards which is really really helpful.

So hope for the best in the upcoming days.May hive stand on your todays topic.

This is an awesome post! Thanks for creating it, Rehan!

I'm working toward this as I want to be a full-time Hiver once! Not just like a creator, but also as a curator, investor and I'm working hard to reach that...

You have made some great points in the post... I would just try to simplify things for newcomers...

Create posts (bring value to others), upvote others, consume other's content and comment on them, power up your Hive as much possible, and be stubborn and consistent!

I can understand how difficult that might be but honestly it does takes a lot of effort to make HIVE as a career. It does depends on lots of circumstances country, situation, finance, family, savings, future etc. But I definitely would like to do what makes me happy and Hive sure is one of those thing. And I really wish that you become successful on that road of the journey.
Lets meet at the top! Cheers.

Dear Rehan, long time buddy.

I really appreciate your content. TBH, there is a bigger opportunity in being self employed especially working remotely. I can relate because I have been doing that for a while now. But you were able to outlined the pros and cons of considering HIVE as career which I like so much.

Thanks for sharing!

Hey buddy, great to see you.

Coming from a third world country and witnessing the situation around me, I would definitely say that, with proper guideline not only HIVE but there are other ways (online) which can make many people's life much easier. But only if someone wants that to happen. At the end of the day, we are the ones who can make the best use of ourself. Have a great day buddy.

I totally agree with you. The power to change the status quo resides with the individual. Thanks, buddy.

Your words ring so true. There are basically three ways to earn money. As an employee, as a business owner, or as an investor. It takes money to be an investor. If you are en employee, your future is at the whim of your employer.

Making a career on Hive is basically going into business for yourself. If you want to make a living at it, you have to treat it like a business. You have to be consistent. You have to be well known. You have to be likable. You have to be trustworthy. You have to spend the time every day just like it was your job.

And just like any other business, it does not make you money very quickly. You have to build up a following. You have to learn what they want. You have to be able to provide what they want. You have to be able to get your message out.

I am not saying it can't be done. I am not trying to convince people not to do it. All I am saying is IF this is what you want to do, count the cost. Know what you are getting into. This way you will not walk away disappointed because you did not know what to expect.

As an employee, as a business owner, or as an investor.

I have been through all three stages and I know how it really feels to be on all of them. Have seen both the good and bad sides of these places. But what I can say from my experience is, it is not worth it as an employee, that is in real life JOB sector. As whoever you will be working under, that person will always find a reason to let you down. No matter how much you give yourself into the game but you will end up with a lump sum and that is not enough for the life. At least not enough from where I am. After wasting two/three years of my life in a job, that company skyrocketed but I and other main emplyees were at the same place where we started before two years. Not that i am saying it is for every job but in most of the cases this is the scenario.

Now being an investor is a huge risk. Especially when you are new in a sector and you have only one shot at it. But honestly, I would not do it. As I want to make sure of what I am getting into. So I would give some time, do analysis and most importantly see it practically how it will end up, if needed I would even do field work if need be but it is my money, I want to make sure if it would turn out in my favor.

HIVE/ any crypto related platforms are highly risky. As the word crypto says itself "I am volatile". Instead of coming here and now do try to give your time wisely. And I am not saying a newbie will get success in here, no never but, but but there are plenty of ways to turn this platform in your favor. One just needs to find those ways in their own and stick to that.

Know what you are getting into

This is what many people do not understand. They just follow the crowd blindly. I do not want to loose my asset/fund/time for blind thoughts. I have my ways of doing things. I have my own intellect to use, I would use it and if, IF I find a relative correct reason to stick out, I will be here or else TATA, I have better things to do.

There is no shortcut to success. If anybody says it to others, that person is probably lying or never knew what struggle is. As simple as that! I like what I do and it is also helping me financially, I suppose that is what matters at the end of the day!! Cheers mate.

The signs are all there! But making hive a full time career is really not something you want to rush into because you got few dollars for some conservative days, basically for New comers like myself as you have made clear above on this post.

Yea, I love hive. I love the flow of the community and I have taken it as a second family (Big Time). But I had set up my goals for hive for the next five years and more to come. First, I don't know if I would call what I wanna venture into when I am qualified to run hive full time a full time Hiving. I mean, I wanna base every of my activities and business online. From YouTube to Freelancing to Programing to Hiver.

And yes, hive offers all this, and on top of that, it is highly decentralized, which means freedom! Knowing that, it like a greater advantage to me.

So, to answer the question if I wanna be a full time Hiver? Well, Yes! But before I even began thinking that direction, I gotta hustle well enough both on hive and outside Hive and with much efforts that I will put in, when the time is set, I can begin processing hive as a home base to all my online/internet activities.

And with sincerity, thanks for this post as it even make me clearer on the thought I have had over this particular question.
One love!🥂🥂🥂
