Food wastage should be a crime!

I was having a late-night walk the other day. The place where I shifted recently is a residential area but there are some restaurants nearby. I saw a Garbage truck, doing its thing. But what made me surprise, it was collecting FOOD from different restaurants to throw up.

If you have any idea about the social-economic condition of Bangladesh then you will get it easily, why I freaked out. There are literally people out here living hungry and they will be blessed having that restaurant wastage.

But more or less we all know 'why that doesn't happen.'

I was astonished seeing the amount of food, it easily can feed at least 20 people. But still, we will be in hunger, we will die, we will cry for food. It doesn't touch us because 'we' are not included in this 'WE'. Until then, we will not take this seriously.

I was thinking about this seriously. We can't change anything overnight, nor we all can force the authority to make a better plan. But what we can do from our side?

As long as we can't see the bigger picture, we can't make any effort to reduce food wastage as an individual. And it also depends on the ongoing culture. The restaurant culture, the show-off generation is making things worse.

Food is not anymore just a means to fill our hunger. It became a means of social status, fashion, lifestyle, and whatnot. This culture was in existence for decades but this social media era made it worse.

The problem is we don't understand how the food network work or we do know this but don't take it seriously. In reality, I stop wasting food as an individual it creates an impact. And when it impacts the culture, our restaurants and households will also have less food wastage.

Only take what you can eat on your plate.

If you don't know how to be in the part to help others with food. That's okay but don't waste it from your side. Think of this as a crime against humanity. Remind yourself how much time, resources, and effort the food you are throwing away needed to produce.

One positive change from our side will impact the others for the better!

It's sad to see any amount of good food go to waste when there are so many starving animals and people around the world. We must not only think about the moment and think in the bigger picture.

As u said in the post, a single individual can hardly make any difference, but by giving out our opinion on things that matter and spreading awareness to things that bother us is how make progress towards a better future.

Thanks for sharing this with us and bringing awareness to such an important problem.
Take care and have a blessed day. ❤️ Namaste 🙏

It made me sadder as I could not do anything seeing the restaurants dumping their food. I really hope change from our side will bring a change for the better!
