Can things ever return to how they were?

This world is facing a hard time. A time that has redefined how we see the world, how we do things and how we relate with one another.

Closeness has never been a problem to man. In fact, a saying among the Yoruba people of Nigeria says human bodies doesn't run from one another.

This was true in year 2019 and many years before but not this time around. Our bodies now run from each other. We try as much as possible to avoid physical contact. This is engineered by the advise by health practitioners that we should maintain social distance.

Before today, it is good to sneeze. In fact, we believe it's a blessing for someone to sneeze and it gives us the opportunity to pray for the person by saying 'bless you'. This means, may God bless you.

These days, we hate the sound of sneeze with passion. If someone sneezes, we look at the person disdainfully.

Within us, we assume the person might be a carrier of covid-19. So we try as much as possible to avoid anyone sneezing. In fact, to sneeze is to draw unnecessary attention to yourself in public place.

Similarly, when someone coughs, we say take care. We sometimes ask if the person has visited any doctor or taken any cough syrup. That was the norm.

Today, it is different. A cough is treated like a stigma. You dare not try that in public bus. If you do, you will see people alighting on the spot.

No one cares whether you are just having normal cough. No one will even tell you to take care or ask if you've taken any drugs. They just want to stay far away as much as possible.

Today in a public bus, i felt so uncomfortable with body contact and the rest. It felt odd and uncomfortable at the same time.

Since we were advised to maintain social distance, closeness seems to be a bad idea and something anyone wants to avoid.

My worry now is whether things will return to normal or how they were before the covid-19?

Will people sit together in public buses, will a sneeze make others to pray for you with 'bless you'?

Will cough make people ask how you are feeling or even suggest cough medicine for you?

Will things return back to how they were before this pandemic? Can we have our world back where physical contacts, get together, parties, religious services and the rest were norm?

Do you see us going back to our normal life before this pandemic. Do you see us adjusting back anytime soon with a solution to this pandemic?

Drop your comments! Thanks for your time!

I pray so too! The new 'normal' is strange and we shouldn't settle for it. Hopefully, there will be solution and we adjust back to how we were doing things before now.
