Proverbial: A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step

Proverbs are the driving force through which we communicate adequately and wisely to listeners.

Proverbs are believed to be horses of words among the Yoruba people of Nigeria. When one is short of words, proverbs are believed to cover that space for us effectively.

All proverbs are pregnant with meanings. They send messages which are coded but once interpreted, one wonders the brain behind them.

A journey of a thousand miles is a Chinese proverb. It is attributed to Laozi (sometimes called Lao Tzu).

The proverbs simply notes that human journey in life starts beneath our feet. It goes further to establish the fact that no matter how far or impossible a journey looks, you just need to take a step.

As we know, things are not always rosy. We sometimes venture into difficult businesses and things look so impossible to us.

The truth is, those who are successful in their various businesses today took similar step you took years back and they are where they are today.

Just like the life of a child. A child needs to walk and it is always a difficult thing to do. So they stared from crawling.

After that, we start to help them by guiding them to walk little by little. As time goes one, we begin to leave them by making sure they feel we are still holding them or with them.

The child falls and falls and falls. Soon, he started getting his footing right and walks fine. Before you know it, the child would start running from one place to another and the mother will start saying 'gently, 'easy'.

That was a journey that started with crawling, standing, falling, walking and running.

No matter what life throws at you, never give up. Nobody promised you it was going to be an easy ride so don't feel betrayed.

To be anything in life, you will face obstacles. Your ability to triumph and come out victorious is what we celebrate as success.

Always take that single step no matter what. Do you know why, if you don't you wont get to your destination.

Only someone who starts a journey gets to his destination. Take that step today and shine.
