Why do we choose vices over virtues?

In life, we have virtues and vices. The former are things we are expected to posses while the latter are considered anti-society

A human is judged morally right based on virtue and morally wrong based on vice. Which ever way you look at it, we are to be responsible and accountable for every of our action.

Society teaches good moral standards. The society tells us the importance of doing good, being hospitable and helping those in need.

The society never directly teaches us to rob, kill, be mean or hate one another. In fact, these are considered antisocial traits because they undermine the essence of which a state was formed.

If this is true, it makes one wonder why there are many vices and defects out there. You wonder who taught who how to steal, kill or lie.

The simple truth is, some are taught by human beings who were taught originally by circumstances or greed!

For some, they learn due to the situation around them. They seem to see shortcut out of their predicaments and this gives room for defects.

For others, they just have this greed which makes them want to accumulate everything at the shortest time.

They feel doing that will place them on the ladder of success quickly than just doing things the right way.

It begs the question of God's time being the best? It makes one wonder why they think they are wiser than their creator.

Why is it that they never thought of it that those who are up there must have paid their dues to be there?

If they haven't, then they are living in shadow as lies never last forever. It might last for a long time but truth always reveals itself.

More so, choosing the life of vice makes one prone and vulnerable. It makes one always living in fear and looking above his shoulders always.

A thief, assassin, drug dealers and the rest are at the mercy of the government. Once caught, they are either killed or tried if they got the chance to be apprehended peacefully.

It makes me ask why anyone wants to go into such trouble of being at the mercy of the government?

It truly pays to be good and choose virtuous life. A virtuous man is a good example for the world. He is proud of himself, his families are proud of him and the community celebrate such person.

Why give up this awesome quality for fear and risk of losing your life just because you want to make it quicker. You simply want to run faster than your weight can carry.

While virtue bring peace of mind and happiness, the other bring pain and sorrow. It is important we have a rethink and channel our energy to doing good.

Do good to people and choose a life that is worth living and celebrating.
