Learning The Hard Way Through My Mum's Hospitalization And The Importance Of Seeking Medical Care In The Hospital.

My mum had fallen ill for some days and was being treated by an auxiliary nurse at home. The treatment administered by the nurse involved an intravenous injection that later resulted in complications for my mum. Her foot became swollen so also did her health deteriorate. This development made us take her to the hospital. This was supposed to be the course of action we should have taken when she fell ill initially but financial constraints made us seek an alternative. This decision turned out to be a poor one. It then made my mum's condition worse.

We took my mum to the hospital and after she was evaluated by the doctor was told to come back a week later for further diagnosis and tests. A week elapsed and she was back at the hospital. Diagnosis and tests were carried out and my mum was told she had to be admitted in the hospital. The swollen area on her foot had a laceration which was severe and life-threatening. This piece of information scared me but I braced up with faith.

We did not expect my mum to be admitted in the hospital and as a result had to raise more money than we had anticipated. We did this and made sure we sorted some of the bills for her treatment. My mum got admitted and started receiving treatment in the hospital. The doctors told us the laceration on her foot had severely damaged her tissues and was gradually infecting her bones. They wondered why she wasn't brought to the hospital earlier. Her condition wouldn't have aggravated to this state the doctors told us. They admonished us and told us to make the right decisions when it had to do with our health. We acknowledged our fault and thanked them for their concern and advice.

My mum's admission in the hospital was a huge responsibility for us. It demanded our time, effort and money. We tried to do the best that we could. We expended a lot of money on medications, tests and scans. Fortunately, our relatives and friends offline and from neoxian city supported us financially. This brought some relief to us. My mum spent one month in the hospital. This was more time than we had expected. Her hospital bills were significantly high but we were able to settle them.

We went to the hospital daily to check on my mum and monitored her progress. We were happy she was responding to treatment but at some point she became uncomfortable staying in the hospital. She was becoming bored and depressed. We encouraged her to be optimistic as this will accelerate her recovery and lead to her discharge from the hospital. She responded positively and continued receiving treatment.

My mum continued with her treatment and eventually got examined by the doctors on the fourth week of her stay in the hospital. After the conclusion of the examination, medications were prescribed and she was told she would be discharged by the end of the week. My mum was elated and so we were. We thanked the doctors for their service and were glad that we overcame this challenge. At the end of the week my mum was discharged and went home. We had learnt a lesson from this experience about not going to the hospital for diagnosis and if necessary treatment when one is ill because of financial constraints . We ended up spending more than we should have spent and also put my mum's life in danger when we tried a supposedly cost effective option. We made a commitment to ourselves henceforth to always seek medical care in the hospital when necessary. Like the popular saying goes "health is wealth".

Have a splendid day folks.
Thanks for reading.
