Patience, Growth And The Entrepreneurial Journey

If you ever took out time to study a farmer you would notice one thing and that is their patience. It is impossible to see a farmer plant a seed today and start panicking the next day because he is yet to see growth. This is simply because they understand the process and that crops don't spring up over night unless they are magical seeds. Each crop has it's season, it's time and they differ by how long they take in producing products. So what do they do? They plant, water, tend, fertilize and wait for the process to take it's course because they can't hasten or force the process. While all these night seem forever it can be likened to the journey of an entrepreneur. It is impossible that you start a business today and boom the next day it is at the top of the industry, this only happens with business and ideas from seasoned entrepreneurs who already have an image or brand to build on.

As a startup you have nothing of the sort and all you have are your ideas, skill, resources and patience. Asides the other ingredients patience is the fertilizer that nurtures the fruits of your hard work over time. Without it you would probably loose resources, opportunities, time and even credibility. Sure it usually isn't easy especially because patience isn't something we were born with that is why as entrepreneurs we need to learn the value of being patient. It is a hard learned discipline that you have to learn no matter how desperate you might seem. By practicing it over time you will learn to think differently, to think long term and this will help grow your mind as an entrepreneur.

Starting up can be really exciting and rocky at the same time because while you are wishing things would get better you could suddenly get pulled back by unexpected challenges. No matter what industry you are, perfecting that skill, product or idea will take time, practice and perseverance. It's more about committing to growth, taking small steps in the right direction and learning through them. It is a journey you must take in the organic way if you truly want to succeed and stay on top for a very long time. Steve Jobs didn't wake up one day to become a leading entrepreneur, same goes for Elon Musk and many other people we look up to today. They all went through that process and we aren't going to jump it either. It is a process that must take it's course because it will shape your decision making and understanding as well as the future of your business.

And so on this journey you will encounter loses, mistakes, challenges that will seem like they would never end. Growth is never a straight line but one with ups and downs but always exponential that will raise your businesses resilience to the next level. Rather than focusing on how far, focus on how well because it could take a long time before you actualize your goals and no matter how long, you have to be ready for when the time and opportunity to shine shows itself. Ultimately, just like a toddler doesn't work overnight, learn from your mistakes, from the process and grow. Be persistent in reaching your goals and set your mind to succeed because your mind also has a huge role to play in how far you'll go as an entrepreneur.

What a great story and analogy! We, entrepreneurs, are exactly like farmers... Planting a seed, watering, fertilizing, and taking care of it every single day... The fruits are coming later if we are good farmers...

I have picked this post on behalf of the @OurPick project and it will be highlighted in the next post!

Entrepreneurship is not as easy as they make it to be, that's why some people quit after a while because they are not getting the result the expected.

Personally I believe setting realistic goals per time will make the whole process easier.
