Alphabet Hunt Challenge ~ Letters X, Y and Z

avatar

This is my entry in the Alphabet Hunt Challenge by @barbara-orenya. This post also brings us to the end of the alphabet with the final three letters!

Here are my six (or so) photos representing the letters X, Y and Z ...

1. Xing
In the United States xing is an abbreviation for crossing. My first, of two photos, shows three different xing signs or crossing signs. Years ago they actually had the word xing printed on the signs but where I live the signs no longer have the word xing on them. I only realized after putting my collage together that the signs are also yellow but I won't be using this photo as an entry towards the letter Y. I wanted to show another photo depicting xing and saw the following sign while riding in a vehicle. It was at a Railroad Crossing aka a Railroad Xing. Notice the words Railroad and Crossing are shown on a big X. I thought that was an interesting find!

2. Xylitol
My second entry for X is Xylitol which is an all-natural sweetener derived from Birch trees. If you use a sugar substitute then xylitol is (in my opinion) a better substitute than most other options unless you are allergic to Birch. I started using it in my coffee and tea as a small change in my diet as it is not suppose to spike your blood sugar. I don't currently have any problems with my blood sugar, that I know of, and I'd like to keep it that way. 😉

3. Yoyo
Guess what color this yoyo was before I edited it?! That's right, it was yellow! I know I could've done a double y entry but I wanted to add a little color so I changed it up. The yoyo does light up when you spin it and I think the edit that I did almost makes it look like it is lighting up!

4. Yellow
Ha ha! That brings me to my second entry for Y which is yellow! Now you see why I wanted to change the yoyo color also. I had some photos of bright yellow Buttercups and I decided to put them into a collage. Go figure ... the little sweat bee on the Buttercup happens to yellow and brown.

5. Zinnias
I photographed the Zinnia flowers in my collage while I was visiting my father-in-law. He had recently planted them in the front garden of his house. Zinnias are considered an annual plant so the original will die when the season is over. They do produce seeds though so if you have any come up the following year then they will most likely have grown from the seeds that the original flowers produced.

6. Zippo
My husband found this Zippo lighter many years ago while skiing at a local ski resort. It was right on one of the ski trails so he picked it up and still has it today. It looks like the company still sells it too or one that looks very similar. I was looking for a lighter that I had thinking it was a Zippo but it wasn't and then I found this one. I thought it was a lighter that he got from his grandfather but any sentimental value would be ... you guessed it ... zero!

X marks the spot!
I took this photo a while ago when anticipating needing some entries for the letter x. This happened purely by accident when I was giving Phil (my guinea pig) some Timothy Hay. Some smaller pieces drifted from the bag of hay and landed in a perfect or near perfect x on his head. Seriously, what are the chances of that happening?! I thought you would like that little story and the photo so I decided to end my post (for real this time) with Phil and his little contribution to the conclusion of #alphabethunt! 💖

That brings us to the end of the alphabet and #alphabethunt! 🙂
Thank you again so much to @barbara-orenya for #alphabethunt!!

Thanks so much @kohsamui99!! It is funny how sometimes things just come together. I had a good laugh seeing that on Phil's little head. I was thinking halfway through the alphabet about that letter x but luckily it got combined with the other letters. I mean I would've had it covered but it definitely made it easier..lol. 😉😊

Your selections are wonderful Dee. I love the X on Phil’s head. 💖

xylitol is a new word for me and looks like a nature substitute for sugar.I might have seen it in the grocery store but take my tea and coffee black.

I’m going to miss the Hunt but we had a great run.

Have a great week!🌼

Tip sent.

Great choice of words, Dee!
Now I remember there is yoyo somewhere in the cupboards, long forgotten.
And the bonus is sooo lovely. 😀

Nobody has thought of a Yoyo yet, cool 😁
Great words and successful hunt, @deerjay, your Xings are the best I have seen so far this week, but don't tell anybody 😉
At first I thought oops, what should this X on Phil's head mean - hopefully not a target? But then I read what you wrote and had to smile 😃
