Natural Noses - AlphabetHunt

The sixth N word didn't work as planned, but in the end I found another one on my balcony πŸ˜‰

Hive Feel Good AlphabetHunt - Letter N

Last week we have been hunting the letter M in the #AlphabetHunt Challenge hosted by great Barbara @barbara-orenya in the Feel Good Community: illustrate 6 words (or concepts) starting with the letter of the week.
The 6 winners were drawn and I congratulate @gingbabida, @ninahaskin, @bigsambucca, @lizelle and @mituabida for their successful hunt and win 😊

This week we hunt the next letter in the Alphabet, which is the Letter "N". Have a look at the actual post from @barbara-orenya for this weeks hunt to learn about the simple and easy to follow rules: #AlphabetHunt letter N - and who are the winners of the lucky draw for the #M week.

Nassfeld

The Nassfeld Pass is in the Carnic Alps between the Gail valley in the north and the Italian Canal Valley in the south. The Nassfeld is also the largest Ski Resort in Carinthia.
About 3 weeks ago I made a trip on my motorbike and rode from Italy over the Nassfeld Pass to Carinthia. Right before the border to Austria there's a little lake (Lago di Pramollo / Nassfeldersee / Nassfeld Lake) and because the weather was so beautiful I stopped and took a few photos.

Hive AlphabetHunt Nassfeld

On the way down to the Gail Valley I have seen another little lake beside the road, which looked very interesting because of these long and thin tree trunks unter the water and the two islands which might be tree trunks. Unfortunately, the light was already very harsh at noon.

Nine spotted Moth (Amata phegea)

I have made quite a few photos of this cool butterfly, called Nine spotted Moth (Amata phegea) and this is the only one that has come out reasonable sharp.

Nockalm, Nock Mountains

The Nock Mountains (German: Nockberge or Nockgebirge) are in the Austrian states Styria, Salzburg and Carinthia and the beautiful and well known Nockalm Road leads through the National Park Nockberge. In Summertime the area is crowded with tourists and the curvy road is a pleasure for all motorbikers.

I have found a few photos of the area in my archive which I took last Summer and also some from this year.

Honestly, I haven't known the name of this butterfly before - Nickerl's Fritillary looked like many other butterflies to me...

Nature

In the past few months our Mother Nature has had some time to relax and refresh ... no traffic on the ground and in the sky. I have ade this panorama photo about a month ago from a mountain nearby my hometown and it shows the Zollfeld (valley) in the middle of Carinthia in the late afternoon. When I arrived the sunrays have been much more intense and a few minutes later the clouds covered the sun completely. So, I took quickly a few hand held photos with my Canon EOS R (70-200mm lens mounted) before the scene was over.

Hive AlphabetHunt Nature

@papilloncharity gave me the idea for posting this photo with his post A Breathtakingly Beautiful Sunset!

Well, I believe everybody will think of this most important word for all our lifes and I am looking forward to see many beautiful Nature photos.

New Noses

Unfortunately the past nights have been cloudy as well as today will be cloudy, so my planned sixth N word didn't work. Luckily I have seen our new kitten "Onyx" (gray) and "Lil Pete" (red) sleeping on our balcony next to me, noticed their Noses and my sixth word was found πŸ˜‰

What awesome landscape photos, @johannpiber! And beautiful butterflies- one is a treat... but two? Just divine!!! Awwww.... what adorable kitties... I love both Onyx and Lil Pete! It was appropriate that you title is focused on them! As for myself, I have 3 Yorkies: MySweetPea, StarFlower, and StarDust!
I enjoyed reading and viewing this article, my friend. Have a wonderful weekend ahead, and take care πŸ₯°πŸŒΊπŸ€™

Another time somptuous landscapes ! I so love mountains and lakes (which is cool as I live surrounded by both 😁 ) and your photos are fantastic ! thanks for sharing with us your trips in magnificent landscapes !
I suppose there are 2 spots hidden I can not see in the photo on the Nine spotted moth (wonderful photo) because I counted seven 😁
The little noses are too pretty, I forgive you for the night shot you didn't get πŸ˜‰

Honestly, I didn't count the spots until you said, but you might be right and 2 spots must be hidden under the wings :)

When I look out of my office window I can see the mountains in the south and the lake is only a 5 minutes walk away 😊

The Night shot will be taken - my app says I might get a chance on Saturday 😊

Of course when I wrote 7, I meant 7 on each wing πŸ˜‰ I didn't mention it as I know the symmetry that is usually the rules of the patterns on a butterfly..well, I think it is , but maybe I'm wrong after all..πŸ˜‰

Good morning Jo,

Well, the Noses you shared are a bit bigger, but nevertheless nice πŸ˜‰ and I was so glad that the two babies were sleeping beside me and I recognized their Noses 😊

It has been raining all night and morning long, but now it stopped and the rest of the day might be nice 😊

Mornin’ Johann. I’m sorry to hear measures are back again but better safe than sorry. We are still doing quite well with the pandemic. We can travel between the Maritime provinces.by proving Identity at the borders.

Shops are open and the only restrictions in PEI are physical distancing and hand sanitizing before entering. There’s a limit to how many people can be in a place at one time. Other provinces, with active cases, have made it mandatory to wear masks inside stores or buildings.

Thanks for the goodies you are generous in giving. πŸ€—

Again I wish you a wonderful weekend dear Johann.😊

Hi Jo,

only the masks are back, but not everywhere. Either the government wants to confuse the people or they have no idea - I think it's the second ;) At the moment there are no further measures planned, but we will see, and it is as you say, better safe than sorry.

The borders are still open, but depending on the country you come from you have to have a medical certificate that you're healthy or go in quarantine... it has become complicated.
In the shops it's the same as on PEI, but in defined shops you have to wear a mask.

Take care, dear Jo, and have a wonderful weekend with hopefully nice weather 😊

Great selection of the letter "N".

The lake view is beautiful with the gorgeous reflection of the mountain. (1st pic.)

The mountain view is magnificent. I really love that there are a lot of big clouds in the sky! Really wonderful! (5th - 10th pic.)

Both butterflies are fascinating. The flower is very cute and has lovely colors.

The sun rays are picturesque. Nature is amazing indeed.

It's a good idea that you took photos of the noses of your kitten for the letter "N" post. Very cute!

Great job! ;)

Thank you Hannes!

I think that you got tose rays better than me.
Funny thing is that here at the ocean, the sun rays are not so sharp as it is up north where we come from.
I think that it has something to do with the density of the air.

The air is thin up north and the rays are very strong, colored and prominent.
Here in the denser air down south, it's almost as if the colors are more obscured.
But I will find out about the differences.

Any case, this post of yours have that usual special Piber touch.

Cheers and thanks!

Let's not argue about whose sunrays are better πŸ˜‰

Maybe also the humidity over the ocean plays a role too, but to be honest, I have never seen any differences in sunrays anywhere πŸ˜‰

I thought aou'd say "mountain goat touch" 🀣 lol

Okay we won't argue as yours is better lol.

We have what they call "bleak" days, as today the mountains were in a white haze with no clouds around.
It looks like a very fine fog that rises from the ocean and I am not used to it.
Yesterday I took a photo of a speed boat on the horizon and surprisingly the photo came out like a haze.
The ocean definitely has something to do with it and I will investigate.

You read my mind, as I was going to say the Austrian mountain goat touch, but then the thought came to rather protect you photography name as many that don't know us wouldn't understand when they have a look at the photos.

Cheers and thanks!

This "bleak" sounds interesting and of course, I have no idea what it is ;) lol

So, there's no word for bleak in German? Maybe "pale", like the color is taken out of the sky.
Like this photo that I took today, the mountain is blurred in a haze.

Yeah, I also think mountain goat is a cool name.

Cheers and thanks!

I have just come back from the comet Neowise, which I didn't see, because it might be too low to the horizon and there's a small mountain range in the north of our building. So I might as well give you a few short replies and then try to sleep ;)

Well, there is a word, but "trostlos" would mean something like dreary or sad or so, and this looks somehow really hazy to me, like you say yourself. Maybe it comes from the humidity of the sea?

Such a pity that you couldn't see the comet Hannes.
Yes, it is a haze and it covers almost everything, especially on the zoom.
I went out later at the late sunset and got a faint pinkish cloud hanging over the mountain.
The ocean must definitely have something to do with it.

But I will find out and show you!

Cheers and thanks!

Good morning Zac,

I got a few hours of sleep, but only if I add all moments together when I had my eyes closed πŸ˜‰

I knew the comet is very low down over the horizon, but I thought it would be just above that mountain ridge in the north. Bad luck, but I'll try it tonight on another place πŸ™‚

Yes, the zoom "compresses" the scene and so you see the haze more dense. Will be interesting what causes this hazy effect. We have such here too, but I never cared why and how it happens.

Good afternoon Hannes.

Busy at a poor old age home today. I wonder how some children overseas feel the loneliness of their mother or father sitting alone in a home here. The old people have wonderful stories to tell of their happy past life, but there is always a tear in their eyes.

Now with that comet, can't you get a better view on the roof of a high building?

Will get the reason for the haze soon and today it's cold and all clear.

Cheers and thanks!

Good evening Zac,

hm, I have no answer to that, but I think sometimes what my parents might do alone in the house.

We are surrounded by mountains and the comet is close to the horizon. A building wouldn't be high enough I think.
Last night I have been on the rooftop of our office building, but didn't see anything.
Tonight is cloudy again, but tomorrow might be clear and I think I'll give it a last try πŸ˜€πŸŒ
If it doesn't work I'll have to wait 5000 years πŸ˜‰ lol

Cold and clear? That might mean something πŸ™‚

Hi Hannes.

Thankfully my parents are wherever they went a very long time ago, so I don't need to worry about them.
Good news is that you will be close to yours again in a few years!

Let's hope that tomorrow will be good to get the comet, as I will hate to see what you would look like in 5000 years time hahaha.

Yeah, a sniping ice cold mountain wind this time that can make my toenails curl up lol.

Good morning Zac,

in 5000 years time I might be an earthworm in his cave sipping on a !BEER πŸ˜‰
Even if the weather is right tonight I don't know if I'm able to see the comet. I would have to drive too far to flatter land, but maybe I have found a good place on my yesterday's ride.

I don't mind wind, but cold wind only in Summer πŸ˜‰

Good morning Hannes.

Oh yeah hahaha, and I might be a bird looking for beer drinking earthworms in caves lol.

Well lets's hope that you are right and that you can take some snaps of the comet, Hannes.
Just don't forget your lens at home lol.

I also love the wind and I saw this morning that the sun at last started to creep towards it's Spring position, but it will be a while yet!

No worry as we said that we were going to take it a bit easier this week my friend.

I hope you are a vegetarian bird πŸ˜‰

Well, I can tell you that this has happened to me once before: I had the right lens with me, but not the adapter for my camera, because my EOS R needs a special adapter that I can use the older Canon L lenses. So I had a beautiful view of a stunning sunset but no photo. I never forgot the adapter again 😁

Some mornings here look already like it was Autumn.

Of course they have to work for their place in the top 10 πŸ˜€

Hahahha, yeah, a seed eating bird lol.

We call these mishaps school fees Nannes.
You paid for the lesson and you graduated ny never forgetting the adapter again hahaha.
I am lucky with my camera, as it doesn't have lenses.
The settings hoever continue to trick me at times.
I put the camera setting on "Macro" to take a bee on a flower and suddenly an Eagle comes flying slowly overhead. So I immediately swing the camera up and start taking 3 or 4 shots of the Eagle.
Imagine my disgust when I saw that the setting was on macro hahaha.

Yes, I suppose the entire planet is turning towards the season changes lol.
Winter at your place is our summer.
Strangely it feels like it was summer just the other day.

Oh yeah and we will make them work hahaha

Cheers and thanks!

Good morning Zac,

right, I have never forgotten the adapter again, but sometimes I forget the settings, especially to switch the image stabilisation on or off when I shoot hand held or I use a tripod.
I don't have the macro problem because there's no macro setting on my camera, but it has happened, that I had the macro lens on the camera and a bird came by ;)

I'm hoping for a nice Autumn 😊

Good afternoon Hannes.

I saw that our times are exacly the same.
Not often that this happens.

We seem to share the wiles of the boogy man with our cameras hahaha.
It seems that you experience the same frustrations as I do and if it rarely happens, then one can understand it.
With me it happens regularly and I am just a Klutz.

Autumn is a beautiful seasons with rich colors!

Cheers and thanks!

Btw. Did you get the comet?

Good evening Zac,

I knew that πŸ˜‰

I don't want the Boogey man near me, even if he has a different name here. We call him just Black Man. When we children were naughty my mum said "behave or the Black Man comes and takes you with him!" 🀣

It doesn't happen to me very often, because since I shot a whole sunrise with much too high ISO settings and noticed that only on the next location I take much more care and view my images immediately after each shot πŸ˜‰

But I know exactly what you mean and I hope it will not happen to me again.

I love the autumn πŸ™‚

No, I haven't seen the comet and today is cloudy again πŸ™ƒ

Ha, Boogy man sounds so much better Hannes.
"I will call the boogy man if you don't eat your vegetables" hahaha.
Now and again if I really didn't like to eat something, I would swipe it off my plate when the old lady was not looking and put it into my pants pocket.

But she caught me, as I put a handful of soggy pumpkin in my pocket and when we got up from the table she saw the wet yellow coloring on my pants. I won't tell you what hapenned, but I never put vegetables in my pocket again, as she watched me like a hawk hahaha.

Nowadays it happens to me more regularly hahaha.
Just wait, as you get older lol.

That comet is gone forever as far as we are concerned my friend.

Cheers and thanks!

Haha, good morning Zac, this day begins with a big laugh and smile on my face, because I just imagined your pants and your mother's facial expression 😁

Believe me, I'm already in that stage where I often think "what the h*** did I want to do a second ago?"

I think so too.
So, in about 5 or 6000 years I will dig myself out of the ground and try to watch the comet again ... and hope that there's no hungry Zac bird sitting on a tree branch looking for curious earthworms 🀣

Good afternoon Hannes.
My mom was a very highly charged individual that acted upon her impulses lol.
So, I will get it with anything that was near her hahaha.

Hahaha, oh yeah, I know that one well, as it happens every day to me.
It's like a guard standing at the door of my brains memory bank that refuses to open the door hahaha.

Hahaha, where do you find all of these things that come out with?
I think the doors to your humor banks are wide open hahaha

Cheers and thanks!

Good evening Zac,

yes, you have told me about your mom before - she was a great woman πŸ™‚

Funny thing is that in my office we are all in about the same age, and everyone of us asks this question at least once a day πŸ™ƒ

Well, I think the more I have to do at work the more stupid thoughts come into my mind. So, you might be right and the doors are wide open at the moment πŸ˜‰

I was the stupit there Hannes, for thinking that I could get away with wet yellow pumpkin in my pocket πŸ˜‡

I think it is all to do with information overload. We jump on our PC's and phones beween conversations and replies and our thought patterns become "confussed" (my own word for confused) Eternal turmoil goes on inside our heads and and we jump from though to thought forgetting to concentrate!

Yeah, exactly as I described above, the mind seeks escape into humor 🀣

Cheers and thanks!

The idea was good, only the execution was maybe not so good πŸ˜‰

I agree, but it's also the age which plays a role, because only a few years ago I had even more to do and no problems at all. But whatever the reasons may be, we have to live with it 😁

I like the words "escape into humor" πŸ˜€

Forgetfulness is the new fashion Hannes and I am also very bad with names.
I remember yours because I type it often, but whenever I am physically introduced to a stranger I have to rely on my wife to remember his or her names.
It can become quite embarrasing, as to adress a person by their name is important.

But then again, there are some 80 year old ladies that address me by my name even if I haven't seen them in a long time.
Maybe they have better memory genes than us!

Hahaha, humor indeed serves as an escape to me. So does Mother nature!

Cheers and thanks!

I also have to ask my wife sometimes who someone is πŸ˜‰
She really remembers names better, so I think you might be right with the genes πŸ™‚

Hahaha, at times our wives caqn save us from real embarrasment my friend.
I remember a real bad incident in a shopping center.
My wife went to get some stuff and I was waiting for her at a coffee shop inside the place.
After I had read a part of a magazine and had 2 coffees, I decided to go outside to have a smoke, so I called a waiter to pay.
The waiter came over and said that no, I didn't have to pay, as the guy sitting at another table already paid for my drinks. So, occasionly I can be a decent sort of guy, so I went to the man to thank him.

As I said "Thank you sir", the guy said "What, you don't know me"? And I didn't know him lol.
So, he continued to explain to me who he was with a pitying look on his face.
I could swallow a live fish hahaha.

Turns out that he was one of the students in the English class at Papillon hahaha.
They arrived as refugees from an African, war torn country, penniless and they could only speak French.
So we taught about 2000 of them English.

Such is life my friend!

Cheers and thanks!

The story is great and I can really feel with you, because sometimes I have similar experiences with colleagues, which I haven't met for years and which have changed a lot in over time. But after a while of talking I usually find out who they are 😁

But these experiences are much different from yours and I think it is almost impossible to remember everyone of 2000 or even more students 😊

Oh yeah, but I am not one of those smooth talkers hahaha.

Yes, we had many more students from other countries and also local people.
It is just the way my life worked out lol

Ha, me neither, I mostly let talk and while I listen my brain looks for the needed information πŸ˜‰

So, in my eyes it is impossible that you can remember all of them.

Good morning Zac,
that's good to hear πŸ˜„

My weekend has begun and I am going for a ride. Maybe I will end at my parents tonight or on the mountain there, don't know yet, and so I also don't know if I will be much online this weekend.

That's why I quickly reply and hope you will have a wonderful weekend and you take care of yourself πŸ˜„

Yes, the sixth word - the Noses have been right in front of my Nose 🀣

I have often tried to take a photo of the Nine spotted moth, but it's somehow not that easy to get a reasonable sharp photo of this black thing, at least not for me πŸ˜‰

Thank you so much for your kind comment and that you like my photos, @deerjay, I really appreciate your nice words and the tip 😁

Have a wonderful weekend and take care β˜€οΈ

You are very welcome @johannpiber!! The kitties are especially cute when they are napping and it makes it easier to take photos..lol. That moth looks awesome and I've never seen one before your photo. Excellent catch! πŸ’–

You can see this moth quite often here, thank you that you like it :)
Right, the little kitties easier to photograph when they sleep - when awake they are so "fast and curious" and a sharp photo is not possible πŸ˜‰

My pleasure your welcome the comet Neowise would have been nice to see well maybe you can catch it next time and do a post on it but the cats noses made up for it and sorry for the late reply have been quite busy with work which is a good thing 😊

Next time will be in a few thousand years, because Monday has been the only day without clouds, but I think it was too hazy to see the comet, or it's already too far away for my lenses.
So we have had bad luck with the weather, but I don't mind very much and as you say, the cats noses are a good substitute πŸ˜‰

That's true, there are many Noses this time, big and small, and I have to admit, if I wouldn't have been in search for a sixth word I wouldn't have thought of that thing neither 😊 lol

Motorbike road trips in the region being one with nature, what gorgeous views, mountains, fresh air with plenty of twists and turns to enjoy the ride. Dramatic lighting on the sun-beams throwing light into the valley.

Butterflies another winner being entertaining when one tries to photograph moving insects. Both noses are cute as a button, they look very relaxed obviously used to you photographing them.

Another amazing entry, thanks for sharing Johann.
