Are U Ready For The Hunt?

Time to starting hunting the Us. The #alphabethunt is a bit more challenging as we near the end of the alphabet but I’m sure in the following weeks we are all up for the task to find words for V,W, X,Y,Z.

My first U is the name of a farming settlement located not far from where I live.

  • UIGG

The Uigg Victorian Baptist church is no longer being used but is listed as a historic building.

The cemetery and the Baptist church at Uigg.

The Uigg settlement was founded by people from Scotland settling here on Prince Edward Island in the 1800s.

Uigg is named after Uig, Island of Skye, Scotland. Uig is spelled Uigg here and I pronoun it as ‘u wigg’

  • UKULELE

At a birthday party for my youngest brother, there was a happy face ukulele and we sang ‘Happy Birthday’ and ‘He’s a Jolly Good Fellow.’ Someone strummed the ukulele as we sang. It was a lot of fun.

  • UNDERWATER

Underwater means something is occurring or placed under the water.

Photos I took about three years ago when Hubby and I went on a Sunday drive to visit the East Point Lighthouse. I went to the edge of a cliff where I saw the large red rocks underwater being washes by the ocean waves.

  • UNIQUE

Using the word unique gives me an opportunity To post the East Point Lighthouse from the previous mention.

It is unique for being the only lighthouse built in 1867 and has the distinction of being Canada’s Confederation Lighthouse. (The Dominion of Canada was formed in 1867).

True to the name , the lighthouse is situated on the most Eastern tip of P.E.I.

  • U2

U2 is an Irish rock band from Dublin. Bono is a recognizable name among the band members.

  • UNIFORM

An uniform is a type of clothing worn by members of certain organizations, such as, police, armed forces, security guards and these members of a marching pipe band.

One highlight at a parade is to see the marching pipe band and hear the sound of the bagpipes. The sound sends a shiver up my spine.

The Zs are going to be difficult.

Zorro is a good one. Now if I could only find him or Antonio Banderas and get a picture. 😀.

You're welcome. Yes, lighthouses are always fun to look at. I like them a lot too. I think I have only been to 1 lighthouse I came to all the time, that was the only one I have ever been to I think. I came there a lot though, it was on a big mountain, my papa likes to hike, so we came to the lighthouse once in awhile in Greece. I did not really get to go inside of it though, because it was always closed. We always came back thinking it was going to open the next day, but it didn't. It was still really fun to look at it and going up the mountain seeing the awesome view! :)

Wow, didn't you just say you have found three words? Now you have finished your hunt as fast as usual, Jo 😀

I love the Ukulele sound and lighthouses as well as U2 has always been one of my favourite bands.
I don't like Uniforms much, but that's only because I have to wear mine a couple of days a month 😉 I love to hear bag pipes music though.

Most I like Underwater - these red rocks in the waves look great 😀

I’m happy you liked U2. I was going to use Uriah Heep band but couldn’t find Hubby’s old album for a photo of them.

The Us came easier than I thought. I wonder if anyone will pick underwear.😀

Wow! Done so soon. And with flying colors, I should say. That Ukelele had me smiling from ear to ear. I used to play that when I was a boy (although I wouldn't really call clawing at the strings as playing lol). I love lighthouses and yes, your photo shows a very uniquely constructed one with a beautiful window in the middle. Underwater and Uniform may be popular words for this hunt but I love your photos. I've always wanted to see and hear a bagpipe parade. Great hunt and congrats. I'm still hunting yet, though.

You made me chuckle as I couldn’t make a decent tune on the ukulele. 😄

There are a lot of these historic lighthouses on the Island. They have been decommissioned by the government and most have been taken care of by the community it is in. There are tours and gift shops in some.

Seeing and hearing the bagpipes in a parade is awesome. It always sends shivers down my spine.

Uniquely traditional in history great script and photographs taking one through ultimate challenge on the letter "U".

Oh bagpipes bring back so many memories of highland dancing as a young girl, my mothers absolute passion attending our local highland gathering annually, many processions we attended with armistice day and similar.

Thoroughly enjoyed my years of dancing, sometimes sorry I did not continue since many later on in life went into teaching with it still being popular. Highland fling would be a load of laughs now....

Like you, I just looove hearing bagpipes, gives ne goosebumps each time! Their Uniform is typically Scottish, really lovely!
This hunt is getting very difficult now, I wonder what @barbara-orenya is up to;)

I was surprised how many V words came to mind but some letters near the end are going to be difficult. Barbara might have something planned to help us.

I’m glad I’m not the only one the bagpipes sound sends shivers/goosebumps down the spine. Watching them in the marching band always makes the parade for me.

Great picks U2 one of my favorite bands saw them live at Redrocks when i was in Colorado years ago the best concert even seen 👍
