R You Ready For The Hunt?

Alphabet Hunt is rolling along and the hunt is on for words starting with R.

  • RED

First up R for my beautiful cat called Red,

The color Red is not only for redheads but encompasses the land here on the Island with red soil and red rocks.

In autumn I will see the changes the cooler weather brings; the red of the blueberry fields, red leaves of the maple tree and red bushes.

  • ROOSTER

Growing up on a farm here were always chickens running around the barnyard and a gorgeous rooster that crowed early every morning.

I love seeing the poultry, especially the bantam Roosters, roaming outside when I pass a farm. I always say I would like to have some chickens but settled for these Rooster decoration plates I hung in the kitchen.

  • RABBIT

There are always a few wild rabbits nibbling on clovers and dandelions in the yard. This one is curious and comes up close to the back deck to check out the seeds I put out for the birds and chipmunks.

  • REST

No one gets more rest than a cat. I know my two, Red and Sunday, have lots of cat naps during the day and a good night’s sleep.

I can’t complain because if they hear any unusual scratching or noise in the house they are on guard to hunt down any mouse or insects that might have gotten inside.

Sunday rests while enjoying the warmth from the wood stove.

  • Rose

The Queen of the flowers.

A wild pink rose with a little critter check it out.

  • Rock and Roll

“We will, we will Rock you.”🎸

When we were hunting the Q my dear friend @johannpiber and I joked about using the Rock group Queen and how he would have to go to England to get some photos or maybe closer to Switzerland to get a photo of Freddie Mercury’s statue.

Now I have the opportunity to use the Rock group.

These are old Queen albums from Hubby’s younger Rock and Roll days. I think he really liked the music of their band by the number of albums purchased.

Red - I thought you'd use your cats name and Sunday takes a cozy Rest, I wonder if you will use Sunday next week 😁

There's one word which you have used and which I have too but I like yours more because of the additional thing on it ;)

I have a few rabbit photos from last Autumn in my archive but I didn't think of these 🙄

Frigg’s day is looking sunny but temp. only at 15C this morning. Frigg did send me a blessing-the road by the house was paved yesterday. Nice to have it done over as there were a lot of patches in the old asphalt.

Good afternoon Johann or would you prefer Hannes? I see you were mentioned by that name on other posts. Is is pronounced with a long O or an A?

Yes we will have to agree to not disagree about the beauty of the roses. 😁 🌹

The last few kilometers to my parents house have always been very bad, but a few years ago they have made it completely new - so I know what you mean, because now driving on that road is a real pleasure 😁

You can call me however you like, dear Jo, but I'd prefer Hannes to be honest 😉
At home I was always called Hannes, but many people, especially at work call me Johann, because that's my real name.
Hannes is my nickname but nobody knows why, because normally it is the short form of Johannes.
I think this website can tell you better how to pronounce my name 😊

I would never have guessed the pronunciation . Hannes has a lovely sound.

The J in your language sounds like Y in English. I would be Yo.😀 I think our given names would sound the same.

It is great to have the road resurfaced and smooth riding.

Hi Jo,

we pronounce the letters a bit different than you do in English 😉
But I would say your name like you say it yourself, because it's an English name and sounds better in English if that makes sense 😊

Today was beautiful again and I haven't been much at home. After a morning walk at the reservoir I had lunch at home and in the afternoon I went for a ride. At the moment I am taking a break, write a few comments and then ride back home. Tomorrow I am working, but I don't mind because then I'll have time to edit my S photos 😁

I’ve heard that knowing other languages opens up another part of the brain and I like learning about them...although some pronunciation may be lost on me. 😀

Nice you are having a lovely day for riding the HD. Today did seem like a fall day but no frost yet and the leaves are still green. Summer days are flying by too fast!

I have some of my S words and photos collected. This is an easy one compared to letters near the end of the alphabet. Ugh!

yes, I have heard such too and I admire everyone who speaks more than only one or two languages, and I don't mean a little bit of Italian or French to order a Pizza and a !BEER 😉

Yes, yesterday was beautiful and today is also great, but I'm at the office and so I have time to do the photo editing I wanted to do for the past few weeks 😀
I have my photos collected and might begin my draft today. That way I don't have any stress if next week is busy at work :)

I haven't even thought of the X and the Z - still lots of time 😉

It seems the weeks roll around fast and it’s good to have the draft a least partly prepared in case something comes up around the time it’s due.

I did something different for one of my S words and don’t really know if it will go over well. I’ll have to wait and see.

Except for the single digit temperature at night, the days turn out nicely.

I'm not better, Jo, I can order coffee and a !BEER and know some greeting phrases in a few languages where we make holidays or have been for other reasons.

At the moment it is hot and I'll go for a ride till the evening. My bike needs a wash too, because it didn't rain in the past days 😉

BTW tell hubby fabulous choice of older numbers by Queen, many knew the latest works very few remember he made music for a long time, sorely missed.
