Wat Saket in Bangkok Temple of the Golden Mount.
On my many visits to Thailand i have visited many temples but i had never got around to visiting Wat Saket in Bangkok also known as the Golden Mountain Temple , today i felt in a spiritual way and needed to cleanse my body and soul and do a little meditation and Golden Mount is the appropriate temple to do this as it's well known temple for welcoming worshipers from all round the world.
The Golden Mount Temple was built in the Ayutthaya period and then was renovated in 17th century by King Rama 1 , he had a pagoda built inside the temple but collapsed during construction due to the Bangkok soil been to soft it couldn't hold the weight. The structure was then abandon for a few decades till King Rama 1V came along in 1851 and started construction again and was completed by King Rama V in 1910 and gave it the name 'Suwan Banphot" the Golden Mount.
Golden Mount Temple is actually built on 80 meter tall man made hill with this gleaming gold chedi up top of the hill which is visible from far and wide as it glints in the sunshine. Walking up to the gold chedi is about 330 steps to reach the top. Near the base of the steps there is a cemetery, where plague victims ashes were buried. We enjoyed the walk threw the lovely shaded jungle settings, small waterfalls and Buddhist statues on the way up.
On the way up there is also many walls of bells we had fun chiming the bells as we walked along the steps it is said to bring and increase fortune so hit and chime away all the way up.
As your making your way up to the pagoda you will see stunning views of Bangkok city but when your at the very top you will see the most stunning panoramic views of Bangkok.
There are so many little details to keep an eye out for just so amazing i loved this place at first sight and with bell ringing and a monk chanting, what could be better and more spiritual.
Many worshipers will come here asking for help from the powerful Buddhist , praying , writing there names on a gold leaf that hands of a small bell and then hanging the bell by the Buddha or you could write something to wish you luck or help in problems you may be having in life on the red cloth material by the pagoda and leave a donation.
Inside the Temple was just as amazing and spiritual with all the well know powerful Monks and Buddhist you could pray to for good health , good luck and good fortune.
Walking back down from the top from over the other side of the Golden Mount was just as beautiful taking in the breathtaking skyline views of Bangkok city with impressive beautiful gardens and little neat replica caves that had Buddhist statues in them.
And more bell ringing on the way down and there is also a lot of other temples in walking distance around the base. That were incredible to see also.
In the month of November they have a Temple fair at The Golden Mount they celebrate Loy Krathong with colorful lanterns and decorative flags, as well as food vendors, fairground games and rides bring Wat Saket to life one very impressive event if your even in Bangkok during the month of November.
There are many maps showing you the lay out so you don't miss anything so many outstanding temples i just can't imagine the man hours and decades that when into building this complex of temples.
The one Lady Buddha that impressed me the most and looked so powerful yet so peaceful and spiritual was this lady Buddha standing tall built in this man made cave in the base of the hill of the Golden Mount , it just left me feeling so cleansed and energetic that i felt like a new person walking away from this amazing temple.

Interesting place at the top of the hill. Looks like got to climb lots of stairs to see the magnificent place and view around.
Very unique and beautiful at a gradual pace it's a easy climb love to go back and see the sunset from the top i must do it on another day 🌞

One of the oldest temples in Thailand, the views from above are unimaginable! So stunning! I will bet that it took you the better part of a day to see it all! I cannot believe he built a hill that was 80 meters tall, then topped it with that amazing temple! Again, wow!!!

Haha , i had to let my phone cool down in between individuals i even had to shut it of a couple of times as it froze up on me but all good we were in no hurry we spent half a day there at a easy pace and you know we still didn't see the whole area , i am planning to go back there on a later afternoon on a clear day to catch the sunsets from the top of the hill i reckon it will be amazing 🌞

I passed this temple many time but I never climb to the top of the mount golden temple. The views from there are very beautiful.
