EARLY MORNING IN MY HOMETOWN

Sometimes I wake up very early. Sometimes there is a clear reason behind that early rise, other times just happens. In this case, one of my cats was the alarm clock that nobody set but it started meowing and it couldn't be ignored. I had a little talk with the cat, then other cats woke up, we all ate something, and then ...

... I felt inspired to get out in the cold and stretch my legs a bit. This morning walk didn't happen today. Today I slept properly, until late in the morning.

The photographs in this post were taken at the start of the current year. January the 1st 2022 is the exact date.

It was still dark when I pulled the camera out of the small bag and started shooting the empty streets of my sleepy hometown.

The Christmas decorations were still there to enhance the pretty dull winter atmosphere.

The street in this photograph is very boring without those few colorful details that come and go with Christmas and New Year's eve.

Here you can see the same decorations from another side and angle. At this point, the sky was blue ...

... although in some shots more than in others ...

... depending on the exposure.

I was changing the manual settings on my camera often because this passage from the night to the day is very dynamic.

Everything was still and quiet ...

... but the daylight was creeping into the scene pretty fast.

I was always less than a hundred meters from home, still in my neighborhood.

Here you can see what I saw while walking towards the main square.

When this photograph was taken, I was very close to the small square at the center of my small, seaside town.

Here, I was even closer.

Here I'm standing by some big candles in front of the small church called Our Lady of Good Health. From here you can see a nice chunk of the square and many small yellow lamps that look very good at dawn.

Here I'm entering one of the small side streets that lead uphill, in the neighborhood with the oldest houses of this town.

Here I walked 30 meters or so and then pointed my camera downhill.

This shot was taken while continuing uphill.

About 50 meters further I stopped and pointed the camera downhill again. After taking this photograph ...

... I returned to the main square.

One of the buildings greeted me with the Merry Christmas And Happy New Year, written on its facade.

At this point, the daytime was firmly established. The sky turned from deep blue to some strange gray with traces of violet in it.

A white car passed through the scenery. The first car on the first morning of the brand new year.
