Does History Truly Repeat Itself?

@chrislyr latest post about intelligent machines has got me thinking about the Cycle of Time lore in Battlestar Galactica. A lot of history is unrecorded. Maybe what's happening has happened before. Probably not but who really knows?

I've never watched an episode of Battlestar Galactica but I do find the concept of time travel, lost history and the likes very interesting. And yeah, I also think that humanity might have some unrecorded or lost history, and for all we know might just be repeating what had already occurred in the past.

Almost all of the time travel was in the Galactica 1980 series. I won't say Galactica 1980 was bad because it's not even though most wouldn't agree with me on that. I will say though if you ever start watching the different series in the Battlestar Galactica franchise start with Caprica. It's a prequel that takes place more than 50 years before the 2003 miniseries.
