So I have been on Actifit for quite a long time now, not sure exactly when I started, but I think it was March or April of 2019, and I always try to have some nice pictures in my reports that I take while out walking, plus improve my skill taking them, I hope so anyways.

Until now I have not posted a specific #WednesdayWalk post, which is a great initiative from @tattoodjay, so when @chocolatescorpi told me to do that then I decided to try this out.

After reading the instructions in this post, Wednesday Walk at sunrise at the Cove, which I did today, I realise that I should have made the post on Wednesday too, not just about my Wednesday, but regardless I will still post it and hope it gets accepted lol.

So let's start, the weather on my Wednesday was really nice and comfortable, not too warm and not too hot, just about right.

I took my walk in the afternoon, and I walked from Kungsholmen in Stockholm, Sweden, and over to Långholmen and lastly to Södermalm, all of them islands by the way, Stockholm is built in an archipelago after all.

All pictures in this post is taken by me, using my smartphone a Xiaomi Redmi Note 8, and the only editing done is adjustments of the horizontal line.

To start with I walked down to the water, and right away got stuck in traffic, some pedestrians where out and as you can see by the sign they had priority on the road.

IMG_20200923_152910.jpg

They must have been admiring the view though, because that looks nice.

IMG_20200923_152917.jpg

So I decided to check out the view from the top, and walked through Rålambshovsparken to get up on the bridge.

IMG_20200923_153200.jpg

Yes I was right, this view is the best, silly pedestrians that look at it from the ground lol.

Here you can see The City of Stockholm, with Kungsholmen to the left, and the big tower far away with 3 Crowns up top is City Hall, where the banquet for the Nobel Prize is usually held.

To the far right we have Långholmen and just behind it is Södermalm, with the Munchen Brewery as a landmark, that is not a brewery any more though, it's rebuilt for conferences and concerts.

IMG_20200923_153646.jpg

This bridge is called the West Bridge, because it's west of The City, and here is some history about it.

IMG_20200923_154012.jpg

Looking south we see first Långholmen with all the tree's and behind it is Södermalm, and the landmark church is called the Högalid Church, and if you ever get up there you won't want to stay unless it's warm, the wind is always very strong there.

A funny thing to many tourists though is that the two spires don't both have crosses at the top, one has a cross and the other a rooster.

IMG_20200923_154104.jpg

So I walked over to Långholmen, and this cliff is very popular to climb, preferrably without a rope and then leave a mark on a hard to reach place, also why it's called Monkey Mountain.

IMG_20200923_154426.jpg

At the top we have these two abandoned battlement installments, they where used to safeguard the bridge
during World War 2.

IMG_20200923_154625.jpg

Then I decided to record my daily video right next to this fireplace, and the view from here is really nice too.

IMG_20200923_155928.jpg

This is the amphitheatre of Långholmen, and usually very popular in the summer with plays and concerts, and nicely located in the park.

IMG_20200923_160158.jpg

And there are even some old red wooden houses left here, looks really nice I think.

IMG_20200923_160549.jpg

This is a map of Långholmen, and so far I have shown some things on the east part of the island.

IMG_20200923_161106.jpg

This complex used to be a prison, but is now housing a school and hotel, plus conferences and a museum.

IMG_20200923_161324.jpg

After that I walked over the small canal to Södermalm.

IMG_20200923_161608.jpg

This pub and restaurant is called Lasse In The Park, and is only open in the summer, but it's quite popular.

IMG_20200923_161905.jpg

After that I got on the subway, and this is my Wednesday Walk, I hope you liked it.

That's it for today.

Thanks for reading, and stay awesome.

Sincerely,
Erik Gustafsson

Oh wow Erik, that was such a beautiful tour thank you so much!

It was definitely worth the wait!!!

Wow, I have seen a little bit of Stockholm and some of Sweden in my favourite Nordic Noir Tv series, but nothing like that before. (Your was sooo much better!)

Is that the bridge out of the Bridge tv series??? (which funnily enough, is pretty much the only series that I have not watched yet...)

I always knew Sweden looked like such a gorgeous place, but you have really put a shine on it now for me!

I will definitely ringing your doorbell sometime in the near future (which realistically could be in 6 months or 6 years....)

Except winter. There will be no doorbell ringing, knocking or touring through Sweden in winter. NOPE sorry. Not happening.

Winter and I, like mornings and I, are arch enemies. We stay away from each other and it's much safer that way.

And by the way, I love the framing and the composition that you have constructed in a few of you photos too- especially the 2 canal shots, the 2 river shots and your pedestrians! They are my kind of pedestrians!!!

And how long is the canal by the way? Does it go far??? A boat ride on the canal is on top of my list...😀

Thanks you for sharing!!!
I can't wait till next Wednesday to go on the next tour with you! 😃

Thanks a lot for your great comment Leesa, and for inviting me, so to start with the bridge in that series you talk about is the one between Sweden and Denmark, Stockholm is much farther north.

I love winters, but share your hatred of early mornings lol, but after 2 or 3 mugs of coffee I am up and ready.

As to the water it's not really a canal, Stockholm is built in the archipelago where Swedens third largest lake runs into the Baltic Sea, so lots of islands and the mainland next to them basically.

Stockholm was established by Birger Jarl in the middle of the 1200's, he was not king but the father of 2 kings and the founder of the dynasty that ruled until Sweden got into a union with Denmark and Norway, that thing did not last very long, and after that period a new dynasty was born from King Gustav Vasa which ended in the early 1800's due to no heirs, and then we got the dynasty that still holds the throne called Bernadotte, though they don't have any political power any more.

I wish you an awesome weekend ahead.

So glad you did join the Wednesday walk Erik, after all, you are walking every day, so why not put it to even better use, meet some gorgeous new hiveans and earn some more spondoolie from it! that's a win win win win win!

I so can't wait to go to Sweden even more now!
Your history lesson has only served to wet my appetite for more!!!

Oooh I can't wait I can't WAIT!!

And you know what? I would even do a winter (maybe a week) just for the experience!

Hope you have a brilliant weekend my friend!
