Hello everybody on HIVE, and especially the Music Community. My name is Jasper and I'm writing to you from Cape Town, South Africa!

Some of you will know that for the last few months I have been posting frequently on HIVE. Besides the odd post about surfing and other hobbies, my main focus is Music Posts where I get to sing and play for you. Every week I do the following:

• Hive Open Mic – I try very hard to play a song that matches the theme for the week, even if it means learning something new!
• Three Tunes Tuesday – I always play the three songs live on the guitar. I always pick a theme, and then play two cover songs and one original song (written by me) around that theme. This usually means learning some new songs quickly! Hahaha!
• Hive Music Festival – Here I tend to give myself a bit of a “break” and play one of my own original songs that I already know…
• Cover Request Challenge – This is my own initiative on Thursdays where I ask HIVE accounts to challenge me to play a cover for them, and then award them 50% and 20% of the post rewards in HP for the winning song and runner-up songs that I actually attempt the following Thursday. This one is particularly challenging as it always means learning something new in about an hour! Hahaha!

What you may not know, is that finding the time to record all of these posts is actually incredibly challenging! Why? I work full-time for a renewable energy development company. So? Can’t I just record quickly at night?

Well, I have a baby daughter, and I basically have to wait for my wife to take the baby to a class or something so that I don’t disturb her. I can never record these videos at night or during her naps in case I wake her up! I usually get one shot to record these videos at lunch times on Tuesdays and Thursdays! Hahaha. I don’t really get the chance to be a perfectionist or do multiple takes!

My beautiful baby daughter’s name is Madison. She was about 8 months old when I joined HIVE back in April. Now, she is 16 months old and walking quite well.

What else has happened in this time? Well, it’s been exciting for me to watch, because as Madison has become old enough to play with toys, she seems to prefer the basic musical instruments over other toys! It genuinely seems like Madison already enjoys music and making her own noises when I compare her to some of her little friends.

Will Madison ultimately grow up to love playing music, and become a better musician than her dad (me)? It’s still too soon to tell, but there does seem to be some talent emerging!

I hope you enjoy the video of clues that Madison may become a music-lover – simply because it is very cute! I do think she has some natural ability on the harmonica!

Hola a todos en HIVE, y especialmente a la Comunidad Musical. Me llamo Jasper y os escribo desde Ciudad del Cabo, Sudáfrica.

Algunos de vosotros sabréis que durante los últimos meses he estado publicando frecuentemente en HIVE. Además de algún que otro post sobre surf y otras aficiones, mi principal objetivo son los posts sobre música en los que canto y toco para vosotros. Cada semana hago lo siguiente:

• Hive Open Mic - Me esfuerzo por tocar una canción que coincida con el tema de la semana, ¡incluso si significa aprender algo nuevo!

• Cover Request Challenge - Esta es mi propia iniciativa de los jueves, en la que pido a las cuentas de HIVE que me desafíen a tocar una versión para ellos, y luego les concedo el 50% y el 20% de las recompensas del puesto en HP para la canción ganadora y las canciones subcampeonas que realmente intento el jueves siguiente. Este es un reto especial, ya que siempre supone aprender algo nuevo en una hora aproximadamente. ¡Jajaja!

Lo que quizás no sepas es que encontrar el tiempo para grabar todos estos posts es realmente un reto increíble. ¿Por qué? Trabajo a tiempo completo para una empresa de desarrollo de energías renovables. ¿Y qué? ¿No puedo grabar rápidamente por la noche?

Bueno, tengo una hija pequeña, y básicamente tengo que esperar a que mi mujer se lleve a la niña a una clase o algo así para no molestarla. Nunca puedo grabar estos vídeos por la noche o durante sus siestas por si la despierto. ¡Suelo tener una oportunidad para grabar estos vídeos a la hora de comer los martes y los jueves! Jajaja. ¡Realmente no tengo la oportunidad de ser perfeccionista o hacer múltiples tomas!

El nombre de mi hermosa hija es Madison. Tenía unos 8 meses cuando me uní a HIVE en abril. Ahora tiene 16 meses y camina bastante bien.

¿Qué más ha pasado en este tiempo? Bueno, ha sido emocionante para mí observar, porque a medida que Madison ha crecido lo suficiente como para jugar con juguetes, ¡parece que prefiere los instrumentos musicales básicos sobre otros juguetes! Realmente parece que Madison ya disfruta de la música y de hacer sus propios ruidos cuando la comparo con algunos de sus amiguitos.

¿Acabará Madison por amar la música y convertirse en mejor músico que su padre (yo)? Todavía es demasiado pronto para saberlo, pero parece que está surgiendo algún talento.
