I Got in Love with this Song and was Amazed by the Story Behind it

I was listening to music over YouTube when I come across this song. It was a song list that I was listening to so it was composed of mixed music by different artists.

I was enjoying the songs even if I really don’t know the title until this song was played which really caught my attention.

When it’s done playing I stood up and played it again, looked for the title, and then searched it over YouTube.

I tried to play it over and over again, and even if I listen to it many times I still like it. The feelings is not the same with other new songs I encountered wherein after listening to it few times my interest is lost already.

History/Background

I just learned that this is not brand new music, I just missed listening to it before. This song was released in 2011, the songwriter is not the singer.

The song was at number 83 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 22 on the Billboard Heatseekers Song chart. 49,000 copies were sold in the United States alone.

Consequently the single reached number one on the Norwegian CG-lista chart and remained at the top for 11 weeks. The song was certified 4X platinum in Norway.

So what’s the story behind it?

Chris Medina was a contender to a reality TV show American Idol. Unfortunately, he was eliminated after making it to the top 40, and I saw the whole scene which was full of emotions and tears.

Christopher Edward Medina is an American-Norwegian singer who was born andgrow up in Chicago, Illinois. Although he was not lucky enough to win the competition he became famous with his single "What are Words". His song became number one in Sweden and Norway.

Now this song “What are Words” was released the day after his surprising elimination. It was a tribute to his fiancée who had meet a car accident and suffered a brain injury a few weeks before their supposed wedding.

The love that they have for each other was so amazing that they showed it even when his girlfriend was not in good health condition. Well, I do appreciate Chris for taking care of his girlfriend for a long time although the fate to be together is not theirs. They still parted ways although they are still friends.

Their story was tragic but inspiring. We should not leave during the time that someone needs us most. And that was Chris did. I think he stayed long until they parted ways.
