Random Patch Generation On The Emu Proteus' With the Deepmind and Minibrute

@tdctunes gave me some new #spreadthevibes challenge, so i am doing a response to this nifty nord electric piano jam video he posted the other day. i think it's a nice peaceful jam, perhaps a like melancholy as he is probably running out of summer days if the weather is anything like we are getting in Cleveland!🍂🍁

seriously, though, i wish i had chops like that... I'm probably mediocre at best-on my best day! i have to get around my lack of physics talent in other ways.

this one is more of an aleatoric jam. i have the modular patch from the other day plugged into a pitch to midi converter, which is then going to my midi patch bay that goes out to the emu mo phatt and proteus 1000, and also the deepmind 12 and minibrute. i am also generating new random patches on the fly, a great feature from the emus.

i am just kind of messing around with one hand, half looking at the gear. this one went for a while but has a decent variety of sounds. i pretty much didnt run the actual modular mix into the output, although each channel is recorded separate on my tascam multitrack recorded.

it's actually a 32 track recorder that records to sd cards and can record 8 tracks at a time. i have the 8 channels connected from a patchbay so that way i just plug in to the front of the patchbay instead of always unplugging wires in the back! it's a tascam and i do like it very much

yeah i can take the individual tracks and export them from tree card to the computer and mix down from there. you could also mix them on the machine, pan add fx or whatever

I've really never used it and dont know much about computer programs anf VSTs and all that...i still use audition 3🦁...but i have friends that love that program...seems like you can pretty much do anything on a computer that you can with hardware and then something. also better on the budget! i know there's a cool free virtual modular synth program called vcv rack i know people rave about it

Hey - I'm using Ableton Live and I love it. I'm also using hardware like @quinnertronics (mostly modular but with a few other hardware synths) but for recorded tracks I record everything into Ableton and do the final production there. But yeah you can do pretty much anything you can imagine in Ableton - super powerful! Happy to answer any questions you have about it.

Hey thanks so much for responding to my Spread the Vibes challenge!

I think @mipiano who was the one that set me the challenge and also @edje who was the one who started it might also be interested in this - you never know where something like this will go!

I love what you have done using modular as the source and sounds from your other synths - especially the random patching mode of the EMUs - I'll have to dig into the manual and see if I can do that on mu Ultra Proteus!

Btw your videos are still having audio in only one channel (right side on this one).

@quinnertronics - would you like to nominate anyone (or a few people!) on Hive to pass this challenge on to? It does not have to be a musician - they can post about any music as long as they have something to write about it. Though I am trying to build a list of other musicians on Hive so if you do know any I've love to meet them!

Keep up the cool sounds and music and thanks again!

Thanks, TDC for the mention, I did see the post but was not able to come to comment before! It is great this is going on, that the vibes are spreading, hurray!!! For me, what @quinnertronics is doing is a science fiction 🙌
Yes, please, quinnertronics, if you want, invite someone to follow up, it would be super if this doesn't stop 💙

I am pretty sure Edje saw also the post and liked it, just suppose there is a lack of time to comment.

Hey - thanks for the reply - and yes lets definitely keep the Spread the Vibes going!

For me, what @quinnertronics is doing is a science fiction 🙌

I think I said somewhere before that I love complicated things! I know I'm probably weird but that's just me. I find creativity in the complexity!
