The Path of Heroes (visual history of 17 photos)

Last time we reached the ruins of the old watchtower of the Anakopian fortress. To do this, we started climbing the mountain trail to the top of the Iver Mountain. There is only one path here and this watchtower regularly performed its protective function.

Here the trail turns sharply according to the rules of the mountain serpentine. Now on the left side we have a steep mountain slope, overgrown with forest and shrubs, and on the right there are beautiful views of the sea and the city under our feet. But in those distant times there were no species here. The path went along the defensive wall of the fortress. Only the foundation stones remained of the wall. For an overview of the surroundings for tourists, this is good... but the wall is gone.

And this tower is one of several. But it is more or less preserved, and the rest suffered the fate of the fortress wall.

The path bends and we don't forget to look back. The Watchtower appears in new scenery.

It is unclear to me why these trees grow obliquely at an angle to the horizon/vertical. But there are many such trees here.

The weather is a little foggy as before the rain. There is practically no sun, but it's not even bad for filming. There are no sharp shadows and over-illuminated sky.

We walk along the path and move further away from the watchtower. At this point, the trail allows you to observe a magnificent view from the right of the sea and the city under your feet.

There needs to be some silence on my part. Watch...

Here are some more ruins. It was also a watchtower...
you can shoot historical movies here.

Taking into account the fact that in conditions of mountains and poor soil (plus heat) trees grow slowly here, this tree is more than 100 years old. And it also grows obliquely.

And then the trail goes a little deeper into the forest and the landscapes on the right disappear. A little more and the fortress itself will appear.
This will be a continuation of the story.
