The shore of the Gulf of Finland

gave me a beautiful sunset.

Winter sunsets are not as colorful as they are in the warm season. So I took the liberty of adding some color and shading to each of the shots.

This shore is located in the area of the city of Sestroretsk, which belongs to the Kurortny district of St. Petersburg. This picturesque suburb combines urban infrastructure and nature. It is enough to go ashore and you forget that there is a city nearby.

Pine forest and sea air are favorable for health and relaxation. When we have time and energy, we get into the car and drive here, the road takes only half an hour.

This time I was able to go out on the ice. He's not that strong. You can see a completely fresh frost. Thaws and tides can push water over the ice and make it difficult to walk on. You won't fall through the ice with your head, but you can get your feet wet.

I was lucky twice: there was good dry ice and the sun was slightly shining through the clouds on the horizon. Let's first admire the ice and then go ashore.

As I already mentioned, the coast is the pines behind which the city begins. Someday I will show it to you. You can see traces of thaw around the pine trunks. Just a day ago, walking in this place would not have been so pleasant. Wet snow and puddles...

We just need to overcome a small sandy rampart and ...

we will first get to the railway, and then to the city. At sunset, this place also looks not bad ... and even calls for a trip.

I wonder what sliding in that frozen play park would feel like… 🤣

It's not as fun as it looks haha. I've done it a few times and usually you just end up sliding down and landing on the ice at the bottom which hurts lol. Best to do it standing up but that can also end pretty badly. I miss being a kid in the winters.

Yes, it was quite slippery, but only on bare ice. Sometimes the ice fell through... :-))

Looks nice and cool from here, a train line would attract me to going somewhere, anywhere, relaxing looking out the window and the snow covered fields.

Nice photography to take my mind into your crisp white winter conditions.

I would also not refuse to listen to the sound of wheels and drink aromatic tea looking out the window of the train car :-))

Nothing more enjoyable than a train ride watching the world slide past the window. Hope you get to catch the train sometime soon, and I will look forward to seeing it through your lens.

I also hope so. I want to get to the Crimea in the summer. But who can now say what will happen to us in the summer :)

Another beautiful part to visit, look forward to seeing your travels, summer is coming soon. Crimea is now part of Ukraine by what I understand, although it appears not to be so sometimes.

So much history in the region, have learned watching "Eli from Russia" about the different languages. religions in big country up North.

Not quite so)) Crimea is now Russian and will remain so now.Two years ago I was in Sevastopol in the summer and I want to return there again. A very beautiful place. I have already shown some of the photos. But I think we need to return to this topic again.

Very scenic and historic parts all along that region, being a strategic spot it's seen too many wars in their history, does not detract from the beauty though. Look forward to seeing your travels.

Yes, these places are rich in historical events. There are traces of different eras here. I think that the Greeks, to whom the official history refers, were far from the first here :))

Historical events over time make Europe interesting with much left to explore being preserved. Mongols and Greeks most probably left their mark on territory way back when, history most probably would find even earlier pieces of information.

The pictures are beautiful, but the snow seems not too thick. Has global warming come to you also?
I still remember the old winters when the snow reached my knees. I won’t forget the soaked boots or jacket when the ice on the puddles ripped under us.

Global warming is a myth to make money on its confirmation))
There is a cyclical climate and that's another story.
Soaked shoes and clothes... this is a childhood classic :-))

Yes, i know it! I don't believe in global warming but hate hot summers. Perhaps i lived in a northern country in my previous life 😆 I love snow, i walked barefoot in it yesterday and really enjoyed it. I’m also starting to learn about Wim Hof’s cold therapy methods as well.

Where did we not live in past lives))
Exposure to cold is very beneficial for the body. But here we need a systematic approach. Hypothermia lowers immunity and diseases are possible. Here it is important to observe the desired temperature, place of exposure and duration of exposure. Be careful. But it's very helpful :)
