Life is a Blur ~ Train life Japan ~ Secrets of Creativity

avatar

The supreme accomplishment is to blur the line between work and play.
—Arnold J. Toynbee

Playing with my fisheye lens again (as with yesterday's photo). This time with a bit of a slow shutter to blur the train and a double exposure.

Camera play is fun!

I should gather all these play shots together sometime with an essay about the necessity of play in photography. Even when it doesn't produce great shots (and this is by no means a great shot) it helps keep your eyes trained for looking at things in new and exciting ways, which in turn helps you take better photos.

Today's Japan Trainlife brought to you by creativity // Exploring and playing with photography is a great way to feed it // Coffee too, because, well, I'm almost done with my second cup and want more.

Hi thereDavid LaSpina is an American photographer and translator lost in Japan, trying to capture the beauty of this country one photo at a time and searching for the perfect haiku.

Very cool! How is life in Japan? Do you live anywhere close to any of the Olympic venues? I'm so sorry that it is not an exciting time for Japan, due to the pandemic continuing! My favorite part of any Olympics is watching the opening ceremony and see the culture of the host country.

I'm a few hours from Tokyo. Life right now is probably the same as anywhere—people scared of the virus, waiting for the vaccine to roll out faster, and trying to get back to regular life as much as possible. Most people here are against the Olympics, but the government has taken a very hard line calling anyone who disagrees with them as unpatriotic people who hate Japan. So... just in case there is some kind of protest or something, I'm glad I'm far away. Not to mention the new variants of the virus that may be brought here. But I will be watch it on TV and will enjoy. Yeah, I agree, the opening ceremony is always fun to watch.
