A Circular Walk on the Hardwick Hall Estate

With around 2,500 acres of land, the Hardwick Hall Estate has plenty of walks to explore. Around Lady Spencer’s Woods, there are shorter walks, which are good if you want a quick dog walk.

If you are a solo walker but like company the National Trust has initiated free guided group walks, mainly to keep you fit and to make new friends with a choice of 5 walking trails depending on your ability.

Some of the walk takes you all around the pond. A lot of it was covered in lillies.

Bulrushes can actually be used to make floor matting. I don't think I'm that clever though.

Although it can get very muddy in winter between the ponds, it wasn't too bad today, so I managed to remain upright. It was good to see all the birds enjoying the water.

There were lots of acorns on the oak trees. We used to use the empty caps to make pipes when we were young. Life was a lot simpler in those days.

It was a relatively easy walk. It will be better when all the trees are changing their colour. At least the storm that had threatened us didn't turn up in our area.
