Out of season

We went for a little trip this weekend and of course took the cameras with us. Having some time in the wild and shooting all that was there was felt so good after the quarantine!
And of course I have to check on some lichens. It is not their prime now. It is hot and they are dried now, but they will stay preserved like that on the branches throughout the whole summer. Unchanged.

Both types you see here I found on the very same dead branch. You just have to find the right one and then almost every cm of gives an oportunity to a nice photograph. At least for the person that like those little creations.
They were hard and crisp to the touch, but they do keep their shape and colour (though some turn more pale grey).

It always amazes me how gorgeous they look from up close.
