Rainbow Wedding

(Edited)

As a rule of thumb I don't shoot weddings. I much prefer to be out shooting in the wilderness somewhere. That said I have shot about seven of them over the past twenty years for friends and close family. I ended up shooting one for some close friends of ours up in Ness Lake in Northern BC after their hired photographer had to pull out at the last minute due to weather related delays on his flights. Having an adventure/nature photographer shoot a wedding you get slightly different types of shots. One just sees things and frames things differently. It was a stormy day with the weather oscillating from a dull drizzly overcast to sunny, then to threatening stormy sky’s followed by torrential rain, and back to sunny with mixed clouds. In the end however we finally had some beautiful light for the beautiful couple. Persistence and patience are the keys when shooting anything; something wildlife photography has taught me. This was the same wedding I shot this milky way shot I posted a few days ago (link here).

I'm always a fan of shots like this where the trees get mirror reflected by the water... cool effect. Looking nice
