Smokey Sunsets

A couple of smokey shots from our property in the Wollombi valley. In the first the sun is layered into ominous bands of differing intensity by thick stratified smoke from approaching bush-fires. The sun had a similar appearance to the naked eye, this is a single exposure which no use of neutral density filters or extensive post processing.

The 2nd shot also with no processing; is slightly earlier in the sunset (more like late afternoon). If you have never seen the sun though bushfire smoke its hard to convey how postapocalyptic it feels.

I've seen it through smoke but not that bad smoke. Looks either post-apocalyptic or like one of those movies set in Africa O_O
