A day in Tavira, Portugal (6 pics)

Tavira is a small town in the Algarve region of Portugal.

The atmosphere is welcoming and relaxed, and it is nice to walk around the city.

Here is the bell tower of one of a lesser known churches of the city.

A stroll through its streets is worth it.

Several houses and churches are covered with azulejos, these decorated earthenware tiles, which gives a charm to the city.

As you can see, we can admire a lot of cute houses decorated with azulejos.

We mostly find them in churches or in old building, but in that city, a lot of house exterior were still pretty well decorated with those tiles.

This is Santa Maria do Castelo Church.

We were going to see the old castle and found this XIII century church on the way.

The church itself is not amazing but it still worth a stop.

There is a nice garden next to it were we can chill and admire the view over the city.

The town is also surrounded by salt marshes which it is possible to walk back and forth and across thanks to the paths laid out on the salt flats.

You can see small crabs in quantity along the paths.
