Manhole Cover Collection from Japan (5 pics)

On my way to Japan, I expected to see a lot of weird or funny things and I was not disappointed.

Today, I'm focusing more on something nice that I noticed in several cities where I set foot.

The very colorful manholes that brighten up the Japanese sidewalks are really pieces of art that deserve a showcase.

Here are some of the best I've seen:

  • Osaka

The second largest city in Japan is home to a castle, represented here, worth seeing.

  • Takamatsu

Takamatsu is also home to a beautiful castle that deserves a stop by, but also one of the most beautiful gardens in Japan.

  • Kurashiki

A little trip back in time to admire an old picturesque district near the river.

  • Hiroshima

Hiroshima, made famous for being the first city to suffer a nuclear attack.

  • Nagasaki

Nagasaki, the second city to be destroyed by a nuclear attack.

And I hope it will be the last one.

Which one do you prefer and why ?

hmmm love this but it has made me realise I wasn't as observant as I thought when I was in Japan. I really want to return some day. Amazing place.

My fave is Kurashiki. I am assuming its a water character in a fire truck. Made me smile. Very Japanese 😃. Arigatou Gozaimasu for sharing this post!

Yorokobashī kotoda to know that you liked it.
The first one I saw really surprised me, then I kept my eyes open to find out about the others. So many beautiful things to discover everywhere, you just need to know how to look.
