A few winter impressions from Aizu Wakamatsu =/= Ein paar winterliche Eindrücke aus Aizu-Wakamatsu 👹🍣🎎 Wonderful Japan ENG-GER

We were really able to make it! The signs were rather unfavorable, but we have ventured out and started our planned short trip. The weather god seemed quite upset in the last week and had given us a huge load of snow, which brought quite some trouble for may of us. But fortunately at the weekend it was not as bad as predicted again.

And so now we are in Aizu-Wakamatsu trying to relax here for a few days. It's our first time here in winter, so it looks a bit different than usual. With snow, the city and its surroundings appear in a completely different atmopshere, because all the white has turned especially the areas in the countryside and in the mountains into a winter wonderland.

We treated ourselves to an onsen hotel this time and, of course, tested out the hot springs as soon as we arrived. You just can't beat a warm bath in the winter, and there's hardly anything better for relaxing and unwinding.

But we also wanted to look around a bit outside and see how the city looks in winter. In particular, I really wanted to see Tsuruga-jo Castle with a little snow in the background or foreground. The castle is already impressive on normal days with its white and majestic appearance, but also in winter the castle complex is worth a visit. Needless to say, walking through the grounds has become a bit more difficult, as the abundance of snow has caused quite a bit of disruption in Aizu as well. What about that, I will talk another time a bit more detail.

Anyway, I'd like to share a few pictures with you that will hopefully bring across a bit of the current vibe. We are planning to take it easy tonight too and of course we will have another bath in the onsen. Well, we are here now, so there is no reason to not do it.

Wie es aussieht, haben wir es wirklich geschafft. Die Vorzeichen waren zwar eher ungünstig, aber wir haben uns dann doch rausgetraut und unsere geplante Kurzreise angetreten. Der Wettergott schien ja in der letzten Woche ziemlich aufgebracht und hatte uns eine Riesenladung Schnee verabreicht, an welcher wir ziemlich zu knappern hatten. Aber zum Wochenende wurde es dann glücklicherweise nicht ganz so schlimm wie vorhergesagt.

Und daher sind wir jetzt in Aizu-Wakamatsu und versuchen uns hier einige Tage zu entspannen. Wir sind das erste Mal im Winter hier und deshalb sieht es hier auch etwas anders aus als sonst. Mit Schnee erscheint die Stadt und ihre Umgebung in einer ganz anderen Atmopshäre, denn das viele Weiß hat insbesondere die Gegenden auf dem Land und in den Bergen in ein Winterwunderland verwandelt.

Wir haben uns diesmal ein Onsenhotel genehmigt und natürlich gleich nach Ankunft die heißen Quellen ausgetestet. Ein warmes Bad im Winter ist einfach unschlagbar und es gibt kaum etwas besseres zur Entspannung und zum Abschalten.

Aber wir wollten uns auch ein wenig draußen umsehen und schauen, wie die Stadt im Winter wirkt. Insbesondere die Burg Tsuruga-jo wollte ich unbedingt auch einmal mit ein wenig Schnee im Hintergrund oder Vordergrund sehen. Die Burg besticht normalerweise bereits mit ihrer weißen Erscheinung, aber auch im Winter ist die Burganlage einen Besuch wert. Obwohl natürlich der Spaziergang durch die Anlage ein wenig erschwerlicher geworden ist, denn der viele Schnee hat auch in Aizu so einiges an Beeinträchtigungen mit sich gebracht. Aber davon gibt es ein anderes Mal mehr und ausführliche Information.

Wie dem auch so, ich möchte gerne ein paar Bilder mit euch teilen, die hoffentlich ein wenig der derzeitigen Stimmung herüberbringen werden. Wir wollen es uns auch heute abend gemütlich machen und werden uns natürlich ein weiteres Bad im Onsen genehmigen. Wenn schon denn schon!
