A Visit To Koosah Falls

Exploring The Falls

We took a trip into the Cascades Mt Range to explore a couple areas along the McKnenzie River in Oregon. One of our stops was Koosah Falls right off of HWY 126. It was an overcast day but no rain so it was an ideal time to take a little walk and a few photographs. 😀

The first view of the falls comes at a fork in the trail that allows you to go up or down river. We decide to go upriver and check out the view above the falls.

With the falls on our right crashing 65 feet to the pool below, I take a picture looking down river from the falls.

The turbulent waters as they prepare for their plunge over the edge.

Gravity doing its thing. 😀

I take another shot of the water below the falls as we head back to the down river part of the trail.

I stop for an obscured shot of the falls.

Finally I reach a viewpoint with an unobstructed view of the falls.

This is an 8 shot pano I took at 70mm with my telephoto lens. I wish I had taken 3 or 4 more across the bottom to reveal more of the pool. Oh well, a good excuse for a return trip. 😀

Two last shots of the aqua colored waters as they wind their way down river.

Thanks for looking and enjoy your day!

You might need a hard hat to stand under that one. 😉

I would like to stay there someday. There is a little 3 mile loop trail to another falls up river from there. 😀
