Deck Garden Macros

Alien Life?

Well at least I thought that is what it looked like up close.

An un-cropped shot shows it is just a unique looking flower.

Since we have a lot of deer around and no fenced garden, we have turned our deck into an oasis of plants. Follow along as I share some photos of the late summer bonanza on our deck. 😀

The Edibles

A very small green pepper and a very unripe tomato. Not too bad considering the unprotected outdoor growing season is rather short. As an example it was 37 degrees F last night. Fall is just around the corner here in the pine forest on the edge of the high desert.

And The Bee

Getting a well deserved drink of sugar water after a long day of collecting pollen in our garden. 😀

You have quite a variety of plants, flowers, and edibles there. Did you grow all of them by yourself?

Also, it is nice to know that bees are still thriving in your area. We rarely see them here in busy urban cities. I recently read an article about the decreasing number of bees worldwide (owing to increased demand and fast-growing cities and deforestation). It's a relief to know that you are contributing to reviving that ecosystem

To be honest my girlfriend does most the work. I just help with manual labor and of course try to capture the beauty of the garden to share on the internet. 😀

The loss of bee populations is concerning for our environment. I'm sure our use of pesticides probably doesn't help either. We do have a beekeeper that lives in the area and he has 4 or 5 boxes. That probably helps things out also.

Thank you for stopping by! 😀👍

Beautiful flowers my friend, I love it when everything's green with many plants and different flowers around a house 😊

I like the Alien flower most - don't think I have seen such before, and the macro looks great.

That's why I love macro photography very much, because it shows you another world you can't see with your eyes 😉

Thanks for sharing your photos, have a wonderful weekend @oldmans 🌞

My girlfriend did an amazing job of putting together a beautiful array of different plants. I quite enjoy time on our deck. 😀

I had to go out and get the tag to see what the alien flower was, a gaillardia grandiflora. And you are right, I must have looked at that flower dozens of times but never really saw what it looked like until I took some macros. 👍

You have a wonderful weekend as well my friend! ☀️

Thank you for telling me the name of the flower ... already forgotten 🤣 lol - even if the name was easier I would forget it.

I think women have a better hand for such things as planting flowers, and we are better in enjoying such places 😁
