Mill City Bridges
Two Bridges in Mill City
These images are from a little trip across the Cascade Mountain Range we took earlier this week. We took a rest stop in Mill City, Oregon to stretch our legs and while wandering around I took these pictures of the bridges. It was a cloudy and wet day on the west side of the Cascades but it is the type of weather that leads to the lush greenery you will see in the following images.

The Old Railroad Bridge
After some research on HistoricBridges.org I was able to find out this bridge was originally built in San Jose, California in 1888 and moved to Mill City in 1919. According to the web site there were considerable alterations done when the bridge was reinstalled.
The bridge is now a part of a walking path through the town.
The Highway Bridge
This bridge was built in 1934 and more info can be found on this site HistoricBridges.org. The two bridges are kind of unique in that while they are close together, they are almost perpendicular to each other in their crossing of the Santiam River.
A shot of the highway bridge from the old railroad bridge.
Some of the thriving plant life taken from the railroad bridge. You can also see the little observation deck in the upper right where I took the first images.
