Visiting Niagara County Park Oregon

A Brief History Of The Area

We have passed by this park several times on trips across the Cascade Mt Range to visit family. This time we decided to stop in and check out what the park has to offer. It was a wet and warm June day typical in this area on the west side of the mountains. Living on the dry east side as we do, it was actually quite refreshing to stroll through the drips of water from the lush canopy above and around us.

Looking out at the first overlook we could see the North Santiam River heading into the narrow chasm where they tried to build the dam mentioned in the reader board picture above. You can also see Seven Mile Creek Falls as it flows into the river.

A view of the river as it exits the chasm on the other end.

Walking Out On The Rocks

After walking down about 40 steps onto the rocks, the view opens to look up and down the river. Discretion being the better part of valor, I choose to stay behind the small rock wall and not tempt fate on the wet slippery rocks. As much as I want to get a better view of the chasm, I figured there will be better, drier, opportunities ahead for that view. 😀

A pano of the river and Seven Mile Creek Falls across the way.

A couple more falls shots.

Leaving The Park

As we exit the other end of the park I stop for a few more pictures of the river, woods, rocks, and wildflowers.

Definitely a place I will go back and explore more. Maybe even get to the other side and see how it looks from there. 😀

Thanks for joining me on this quick visit. Feel free to make comments or ask me any questions about this post.

Photos taken by me, @oldmans, with a Nikon D3300 and some Lightroom post processing.

Thanks for looking and enjoy your day!

Wow it is so beautiful, I love how lush it is, what I'd give to dip my toes in that river and sit and soak up the sounds of the waterfall. xxxx

Even though I lived in that type of environment for 40 plus years I had forgotten how green, lush and wet it could get. It was a nice visit and I will definitely be back again, I just think my psyche and old bones require a drier climate now days. 😀
