Looking at these night photos, I inevitably remember how difficult it was to take them and how difficult it was to get to this place - the Arch of Freedom Monument in Goraltepe Mount, Balkan Mountains.

Like so many other sights in Bulgaria.

And looking at these pictures, the following lines from the poem by Heinrich Heine, 'Loreley' always appear in my mind:

Die Luft ist kühl und es dunkelt,
und ruhig fließt der Rhein;
der Gipfel des Berges funkelt
im Abendsonnenschein.

...

The air is cool under nightfall.
The calm Rhine courses its way.
The peak of the mountain is sparkling
With evening's final ray.

But it's just a game of my mind, and I can't explain why.

Because this is not about a river. But only about climbing the mountain. Overnight. And perhaps the whole drama of the situation, the whole tension of the night climb, the poorly marked road, the broken asphalt, the strong wind - all this finds expression in Heine's dramatic poem.

And my memories of this place will remain forever like this.

And here is my desert selfie, documenting my ghostly presence in that scary place on that scary night. If it weren't for it, I probably wouldn't be sure I was really there.

Stunning pictures! It looks more like a graphic or something like that. And so many stars in the sky! I just love it.

Thank you! 😊 These are pictures from a really surreal place and moment. So, it's normal to look strange 😃
